American Honda Achieves Significant November Sales Growth With Light Trucks And Electrified Models

American Honda reported a significant increase in sales for November, reaching 121,419 units, marking a 14.5% rise. This growth was largely driven by the popularity of light trucks and electrified models across both the Honda and Acura brands. The Honda brand alone saw sales of 110,020 units, reflecting a 15.9% increase, aligning with its goal of a 10% annual growth.

In November, Honda achieved a record for electrified model sales, surpassing 38,000 units. This was fueled by high demand for hybrids and a new monthly sales peak for the Prologue at 6,823 units. CR-V sales are on track to set an annual record with over 34,300 sold in November, more than half being hybrids. Light truck sales rose by 15.7%, totaling 79,982 units.

The Pilot maintained its position as the top model in its segment with sales of 12,652 units, marking a year-to-date increase of 28%. The rugged TrailSport models accounted for 16% of these sales. Meanwhile, the HR-V recorded its best-ever November with sales of 12,594 units, boosting its performance by 27% this year.

Despite supply constraints due to plant retooling for future EV production, Acura managed to sell 11,399 units in November. SUV sales were particularly strong at 9,031 units, up by 16.3%. The RDX saw an annual increase of 11.9%, with November sales reaching 3,386 units.

The MDX also performed well with November sales of 4,328 units, reflecting a rise of 6.2%. The all-electric ZDX had its best month since launch with sales of 1,317 units; the ZDX Type S made up over a quarter of these sales.

Passenger Cars and Future Plans

Honda's passenger car segment experienced a modest increase of 2.4% this year. The refreshed Civic contributed significantly with over 18,300 units sold in November; hybrid versions accounted for nearly one-third of these sales. Accord hybrids represented more than half of November's total despite limited availability due to plant upgrades in Ohio.

Acura's car division sold over 2,300 vehicles despite supply limitations. The Integra continued to dominate its class by capturing more than 40% of market share.

Year-to-Date Performance

For the year so far, American Honda has sold over 1.28 million vehicles—a rise of nearly nine percent compared to last year. Car sales reached approximately 400,760 units but fell slightly by about two percent. Truck sales surged by over fourteen percent to around 887,500 units.

The Acura brand's total year-to-date figures show an increase of about three percent overall despite challenges faced during plant transitions aimed at enhancing future electric vehicle production capabilities.

This robust performance highlights American Honda's strategic focus on expanding their electrified offerings while maintaining strong light truck demand across both brands.
