Alex Palou, Honda Win Sonsio Grand Prix On The Indianapolis Road Course
At the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, Alex Palou, the defending series champion, clinched his first victory of 2024, marking a significant milestone with his 10th career win in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. This triumph not only showcased his skill but also propelled him to the forefront of the championship points leaderboard as the series gears up for the prestigious Indianapolis 500. Palou, driving the #10 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda, began the race in pole position but briefly lost the lead to Christian Lundgaard, another Honda driver. Demonstrating strategic acumen and driving skill, Palou reclaimed control and led for 39 of the 85 laps, ensuring a victory that placed him at the top of the Drivers' Championship standings with 152 points. Will Power, finishing second, trails behind with 142 points.
Christian Lundgaard, in his Rahal Letterman Lanigan Honda, also delivered an impressive performance. Starting from the front row's outside position, he led for a substantial portion of the race before finishing third.
