Alex Bukhantsov To Defend Gulf Cup Title In Unique Ruby-Coloured Radical SR3 XXR
Most purpose-built race cars are typically offered in white. They are wrapped, raced, crashed, repaired, and sent back to the track. Over half of the 150+ Radical race cars produced annually in Cambridgeshire, UK, are also ordered in white. However, some racers prefer different colours. Radical offers seven standard colours and an eighth bespoke option that caught the eye of Gulf Radical Cup Champion Alex Bukhanstov.
Bukhanstov chose a unique 'Ruby' colour for his new Radical SR3 XXR as he prepares for the 2024/25 season. This makes it the only SR3 XXR in this colour so far. The factory team can offer this colour to future customers through Radical’s 30+ global dealers. Bukhanstov ordered his Ruby SR3 XXR through Radical UAE, operated by GulfSport.
GulfSport is one of the longest-standing members of the Radical Motorsport dealer network and has been instrumental in developing the Radical market across the Gulf region since its inception in 2004. The company is headed by Barry and Martin Hope and is based at the FIA-sanctioned Dubai Autodrome.
GulfSport has been a key player in the Gulf’s motorsport community for over twenty years. In 2005, it established the Gulf Radical Cup, which remains one of the most popular official Radical Cup championships globally. This November, Radical UAE will host the 2024 Radical World Finals at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
The creation of Bukhanstov's unique Ruby colour was handled by Radical’s experienced team at their Cambridgeshire factory. Small samples were sent to Dubai for approval before production began. Once approved, the body shop team started work while next door, the main assembly hall brought together the spaceframe chassis and 1500cc RPE engine.
Radical Motorsport's Manufacturing Process
The process involves mixing specially-formulated pigments into the gelcoat layer to create a coloured, glossy surface that retains its finish for years. This method ensures that the SR3 XXR’s surface won’t easily chip even under extreme conditions on the racetrack.
Radical Motorsport is renowned for producing nearly 3,000 cars over its 25-plus-year history. Founded in 1997, it aimed to create a customer-led niche in motorsport with lightweight construction and superbike-derived technology. Their models are faster than supercars and offer a thrilling driving experience.
Radical Motorsport's Global Presence
The company’s lineup includes entry-level SR1 XXR, best-selling SR3 XXR, turbo-charged SR10 XXR, and iconic RXC models. All cars are designed and built at their Cambridgeshire headquarters. A global dealer network spans over 20 countries with 12 single-make Radical Cup championships across four continents.
