India's Lowest-Priced Electric Cars: From MG To Tata

Leading the charge in affordable electric four-wheelers in India are the MG Comet, Tata Punch EV, and Citroen eC3, all of which blend practicality with contemporary design at accessible price points. These models are perfect for those looking to embrace electric mobility without breaking the bank.

Features such as improved battery technology and expanding charging infrastructure enhance the appeal of these affordable electric cars for daily urban commuting in India. Rising fuel costs further contribute to their attractiveness.

MG Comet EV

The MG Comet EV stands out as one of the most budget-friendly options available. Built on a fully electric platform, it features a 17.3kWh battery with an ARAI-certified range of 230 km, ensuring zero tailpipe emissions.

The MG Comet is priced at Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom), but with the Battery as a Service (BaaS) option, the price reduces to Rs 4.99 lakh plus a battery rental fee of Rs 2.5/km. This flexible pricing makes it more accessible for urban drivers.

The car includes connected car tech, a reverse parking camera with sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Tata Tiago

The Tata Tiago EV offers four variants starting at Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes with two battery options: a 19.2kWh unit (Medium Range) and a 24kWh unit (Long Range).

The Medium Range variant produces 60bhp and 110Nm of torque, while the Long Range version delivers up to 74bhp and 114Nm of torque. Depending on the battery pack chosen, it offers an impressive range from 250 km to 315 km.

Tata Punch EV

Tata Motors' Punch EV starts at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It offers two battery packs: a 25kWh option providing a range of 315 km and a larger 35kWh pack offering up to 421 km range.

Both are paired with permanent magnet synchronous motors; however, Medium Range variants produce less power compared to Long Range ones which generate up to 120bhp.

Citroen eC3

The Citroen eC3 marks the French automaker's first all-electric model in India with prices starting at Rs 11.61 lakh (ex-showroom). Equipped with a 29.2kWh battery pack powering an electric motor on the front axle, it generates up to 56bhp and peak torque of 143Nm. This allows acceleration from zero to sixty km/h in just under seven seconds.

The Citroen eC3 boasts an ARAI-certified range of approximately three hundred twenty kilometres along with two driving modes – Eco and Standard – plus regenerative braking capabilities enhancing efficiency further still.

Available across two variants: Feel & Shine; this hatchback competes directly against Tata Punch EV whilst positioning itself above both Tiago & Comet models respectively.

MG Windsor EV

MG Windsor EV is India's first intelligent CUV featuring an extended wheelbase measuring over twenty-seven hundred millimetres offering enhanced space utilisation compared against many internal combustion engine vehicles currently available today.

Retailing initially around 13.5 Lakhs ex-showroom yet through a unique BaaS rental programme can be acquired instead at Rs. 9.9 Lakhs alongside additional per-kilometre chargeable fees associated thereafter accordingly!

This model incorporates 38kWh capacity batteries delivering certified ranges exceeding 332km per single charge cycle whilst producing maximum power outputs reaching 134 brake horsepower coupled alongside peak torques nearing 200Nm respectively!

With attractive pricing and government incentives, these EVs present a sustainable alternative to conventional petrol and diesel vehicles, making the shift to greener transportation more attainable than ever.
