Acura Meyer Shank Racing Announces Full Season Driver Lineup For 2025 IMSA Championship

Acura Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) is gearing up for the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with a strengthened partnership with Honda Racing Corporation USA (HRC US). The team has confirmed its driver lineup for two Acura GTP entries. Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun will continue in the No. 60 Acura ARX-06, while Renger van der Zande and Nick Yelloly join to drive the No. 93 entry.

Acura MSR has a rich history in IMSA, having first collaborated with HRC, then known as Honda Performance Development, in 2017. They initially ran Acura NSX GT3s, securing their first victory in Detroit. Over four seasons, they achieved seven poles, seven wins, and 16 podium finishes. The team clinched the IMSA team and driver championships in 2019 and repeated this success in 2020.

The transition to the DPi category in 2021 and 2022 brought further success with three poles, two wins, and eight podiums, culminating in a third championship title in 2022. In 2023, Acura MSR began competing with the Acura LMDh hybrid ARX-06, achieving three victories including another Rolex 24 Hour win.

Tom Blomqvist expressed his enthusiasm about returning to IMSA with MSR: "I'm pleased I'm able to return home to IMSA with MSR. This team is like family to me and we've achieved a whole lot together in sports cars." Colin Braun shared similar sentiments about reuniting with the team: "I'm really looking forward to reuniting with Mike, Jim, Tom, and the entire MSR team."

Newcomers Renger van der Zande and Nick Yelloly bring extensive experience to the table. Van der Zande recently enjoyed a successful season with Cadillac but is eager for this new chapter: "I'm super excited to be joining a new team and a new brand." Yelloly is also enthusiastic about joining Acura MSR: "I'm really excited to be joining the Acura MSR / HRC project."

Team Leadership Perspectives

Mike Shank, co-owner of Acura Meyer Shank Racing, expressed optimism about expanding their relationship with HRC: "We're really looking forward to getting back to work in IMSA and we're excited to expand our relationship with HRC and Acura." David Salters from HRC US highlighted the team's goals: "We are clear and humble in our goals as we are racing at the pinnacle against world class competitors who we respect enormously."

The drivers' collective experience is expected to propel Acura MSR forward. Salters added: "Colin, Nick, Renger and Tom all bring supreme skill to work with our engineers... whilst remembering to have some fun!"

Upcoming Challenges

The upcoming season presents both challenges and opportunities for Acura MSR as they aim for more victories. The team's first official outing will be at Daytona International Speedway for an IMSA-sanctioned test in November.

This expanded effort reflects their commitment to excellence in motorsport competition. With seasoned drivers and strong partnerships, they are poised for success on the track.
