Acura To Showcase Endurance Racing Heritage With ARX-01b At Monterey Car Week
Acura will honour its championship legacy in sports car racing at the 2024 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. The event will feature the return of the 2008 Acura ARX-01b. Ricky Taylor, a two-time IMSA Champion and current Acura ARX-06 GTP driver, will drive this legendary race car in the Scott Pruett Legends of Endurance Cup Class.
The Acura ARX-01b, still sporting its iconic 2008 livery, will compete during Monterey Car Week. This event is one of the world's premier gatherings for automotive and motorsports enthusiasts. The competition will take place at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca from August 14 to 17.

Acura has a rich history in endurance sports car racing. The brand has won three of the last five IMSA Prototype championships and three of the last four Rolex 24 at Daytona endurance races. This success continues with the championship-winning Acura NSX GT3 competing in the IMSA GTD class and the electrified Acura ARX-06 in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar GTP Championship hybrid-powered category.
The 2024 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion marks a significant return for the Acura ARX-01b to Laguna Seca. In 2008, Gil de Ferran and Simon Pagenaud drove an Acura ARX-01b in the American Le Mans Series LMP2 Class, finishing second by just .054 seconds behind another Acura ARX-01b driven by Tony Kanaan.
In 2009, Fernandez Racing won eight races in the LMP2 class with an Acura ARX-01b, securing the class championship. Additionally, Highcroft Racing and de Ferran Motorsports fielded two Acura ARX-02a entries that finished first and second in the LMP1 championship, winning eight out of ten races, including one at Laguna Seca.
Acura began its winning streak within two years after starting sales in 1986. Race-prepped Acura Integras clinched two consecutive International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) Championships from 1988 to 1990. The Comptech Racing Acura-Spice GTP Lights race cars then carried Acura to three consecutive Championships in the IMSA Camel GTP Lights series from 1991 to 1993.
