Acura Integra Racecars Excel In Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

Acura's Integra racecars achieved notable finishes in the 102nd Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, led by the all-electric Acura ZDX Type S pace car. Katherine Legge, an INDYCAR and IMSA veteran, made her debut at Pikes Peak, securing a top-five finish in the Time Attack 1 division with the Acura Integra Type S DE5.

Paul Hubers, an Acura engineer, participated for the third time in this historic hill climb. Driving the HART Integra A-Spec, he finished among the top 10 in the Pikes Peak Open class. His performance was enhanced by modifications to the powerplant and chassis, along with new Yokohama ADVAN racing tires.

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is one of America's oldest motorsports events. Since 1916, drivers from around the world have raced up its challenging course, starting at 9,390 feet and reaching a summit of 14,115 feet. This year’s event saw unexpectedly ideal weather conditions compared to prior weeks' cold and wet practice sessions.

Katherine Legge drove the HRC Acura Integra Type S DE5 to a fifth-place finish in her division with a time of 10:51.359. Despite warm weather affecting many racecars' cooling systems due to Pikes Peak's thin air at higher altitudes, Legge's vehicle performed reliably throughout.

BMX pro athlete Coco Zurita made history by driving the Acura ZDX Type S pace car to the summit. This marked the first time an all-electric pace car was used in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The ZDX Type S features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain delivering nearly 500 horsepower and 544 lb-ft of torque.

Zurita’s achievement underscores Acura's dedication to Precision Crafted Performance even in electrified vehicles. The ZDX Type S also boasts six-piston Brembo front brakes, height-adjustable air suspension, and performance-tuned adaptive dampers.

Honda Racing Corporation USA

Honda Racing Corporation USA (HRC US), formerly known as Honda Performance Development, has been supporting Honda Racing and Acura Motorsports since 1993. HRC US designs and develops powertrain, chassis, electronics, and performance parts for both professional and amateur racers across North America.

The Role of HART

It includes most associate-led racing teams in North America and competes in various motorsport competitions such as road racing and off-road events. HART provides associates with valuable experience that translates into developing next-generation Honda and Acura products.

This year's hill climb saw Paul Hubers achieve his best run yet with a time of 11:40.736 in the HART Integra A-Spec. His team shaved nearly 28 seconds off their previous attempt thanks to key modifications and growing experience on this grueling mountain course.

Acura's Racing Legacy

Motorsports play a crucial role in Acura's Precision Crafted Performance ethos. This year marks Acura’s 14th consecutive participation at Pikes Peak. Over these years, they have secured numerous first-place finishes within divisions, over 30 podiums, and multiple records.

The brand’s lineup includes two sport sedans—the Integra and TLX—and three sport-utility vehicles—the RDX, MDX, and all-electric ZDX. High-performance Type S variants further showcase Acura’s commitment to innovative engineering and high performance.

Acura continues to demonstrate its dedication through consistent participation in prestigious events like Pikes Peak while pushing boundaries in both traditional and electric vehicle performance.
