ABB Unveils RB 1000i-S Paint Atomizer To Enhance Efficiency And Sustainability In Automotive Paint Shops
ABB has introduced the RB 1000i-S paint atomizer, aiming to enhance efficiency in automotive paint shops. This new device, mounted on ABB robots, boosts transfer efficiency by over 10% and cuts paint waste by at least 30%. These improvements also contribute to reducing CO2 emissions. The enhanced efficiency can lead to significant cost savings for manufacturers.
The RB 1000i-S atomizer is designed to lower CO2 and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) emissions in automotive paint facilities. By minimizing paint waste and optimizing energy use, it supports sustainability goals. For instance, a factory producing 200,000 cars annually could save 50,000 liters of paint, translating into USD 500,000 in savings.
ABB's latest innovation aligns with the automotive industry's push towards carbon neutrality by 2035. Marc Segura, President of ABB's Robotics Division, stated: "Major automotive manufacturers have committed to carbon neutral factories by 2035, leaving no stone unturned in their mission to achieve these targets." ABB continues to develop products that assist companies in meeting sustainability objectives.
The RB 1000i-S can be ordered with a new paint robot or as an upgrade kit for existing RB 1000i models. This service kit includes components like the bell cup and shaping air nozzle. It supports the circular economy by extending the lifespan of current equipment and reducing waste further.
ABB offers additional solutions aimed at enhancing energy efficiency. Their Energy Efficiency Service provides tools and consultations that can help manufacturers save up to 30% on energy consumption for their robots. The OmniCoreTM controller also reduces energy use by up to 20% during heavy-duty cycles.
RobotStudio® Automatic Path Planning improves motion duration, cutting energy usage by up to 30%. These innovations are part of ABB's broader strategy to promote sustainable practices across various industries.
