2025 Volkswagen Taos Unveiled: Fresh Styling, Advanced Tech, And More Power
Volkswagen of America Inc. has introduced several updates for the Taos, enhancing its design, technology, and performance. The 2025 model boasts a refreshed exterior with a redesigned bumper, a new grille featuring an optional light bar, and standard LED projector headlights across all trims. These changes aim to boost the vehicle's curb appeal.
The interior of the 2025 Taos has also been revamped. A new dashboard design integrates an 8-inch floating infotainment display, standard on all models. The SE trim and above offer touch control for the Climatronic® HVAC system. Additionally, new acoustic dampening treatments have been added to reduce interior noise.
Under the hood, the 2025 Taos features an updated 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that now delivers 174 horsepower, up from 158 hp in the previous model. All-wheel-drive models are now equipped with a conventional eight-speed automatic transmission, replacing the seven-speed DSG® dual-clutch automatic.
The exterior updates include three new paint colors: Bright Moss Green, Monterey Blue Pearl, and Monument Gray. New wheel designs are available as well: 17-inch aluminum alloys for front-wheel drive S models, 18-inch alloys for front-wheel drive SE models, and 19-inch wheels for SEL models.
The 2025 Taos comes with Volkswagen's IQ.DRIVE® driver assistance suite across all trims. This includes semi-automated driving assistance through Travel Assist, Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking via Front Assist, Active Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Stop and Go, Lane Keeping System through Lane Assist, and Emergency Assist for medical emergencies.
The SE Black trim continues from the 2024 model year with unique features such as a black roof and trim. It also offers distinctive wheels—18 inches for front-wheel-drive models and 19 inches for all-wheel-drive models.
Interior Comfort and Options
Inside the cabin, upholstery options vary by trim level. The Taos S features two-tone black and grey cloth seats. SE and SE Black models come with CloudTex and cloth materials in different two-tone options or all black respectively. SEL models offer leather seats in either a two-tone black and grey combination or a new dark blue hue.
The rear of the vehicle now includes connected taillights and an illuminated Volkswagen badge to enhance its upscale appearance further. Front and rear Park Distance Control are also available to assist with parking in tight spaces.
Volkswagen of America operates from Reston, Virginia, selling vehicles like Atlas, Golf GTI, Jetta GLI through over 600 independent U.S. dealers. Their assembly facility in Chattanooga produces several Volkswagen brand vehicles including Atlas Cross Sport.
The updated Taos will be available at U.S dealerships by year-end with pricing details to be announced closer to launch.
