New-Gen Renault Duster Launched In South Africa – India Launch In 2025

The first generation Renault Duster was a very popular SUV in the Indian market. However, it was pulled from the Indian market in early 2022 after poor sales around the end of its lifecycle.

Now, Renault is planning to introduce the latest generation of Duster SUV in India. In fact, numerous latest-gen Renault Duster test mules have been spotted testing across the country. As such, we expect the upcoming Renault Duster SUV to be launched by first half of 2025.

As of now, Renault has already launched the righ-hand drive iteration of the new Duster SUV in South Africa, which is expected to be similar to the upcoming Indian version.

Globally, the 2025 Duster features a full hybrid powertrain. It combines a 1.6-litre petrol engine with two electric motors and an automatic gearbox, producing 140 bhp and 148 Nm of torque.

To support the two electric motors thar are part of the hybrid drivetrain setup, the new Duster also sports a 1.2kWh battery pack, which is charged through brake regeneration technology. Thanks to this hybrid setup, the new Duster delivers an impressive fuel efficiency figure of more than 24km/l and can travel short distances in EV mode as well.

In South Africa, the Renault Duster features a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine with 128bhp. This engine also comes with electrification but in the form of a 48V starter motor. We expect this powertrain to be featured on the Indian version.

In terms of dimensions, the new Duster measures 4,340mm long and sports a wheelbase of 2,657 mm. Some of the noticeable design highlights includes Y-shaped LED DRLs, redesigned front and rear bumper, round fog lights at the front, and Y-shaped taillamps.

Inside, the 2025 Duster offers modern features such as a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Arkamys 3D sound system, automatic climate control, sunroof and more.

Market Competition and Pricing Strategy

The 2025 Renault Duster will compete in the compact SUV segment against models like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Honda Elevate. The upcoming Renault Duster is likely to be priced affordably in India due to localization efforts.
