2025 Renault Duster To Come With Hybrid Powertrain: Launch Details & More
The 2025 Renault Duster, recently launched in South Africa, is anticipated to arrive in India by March 2025. This right-hand drive model mirrors its left-hand drive counterpart. Built on the CMF-B platform, it promises ample space for passengers and cargo. To keep costs competitive in India, this platform might be localized.
Globally, the 2025 Duster features a full hybrid powertrain. It combines a 1.6-litre petrol engine with two electric motors and an automatic gearbox, producing 140 bhp and 148 Nm of torque. The vehicle achieves a fuel efficiency of 24.5 kmpl, supported by a 1.2 kWh battery charged through brake regeneration.

The new Duster measures 4,340 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,657 mm. Its design includes Y-shaped LED DRLs, a redesigned bumper with vertical air vents, and round fog lights at the front. At the rear, it features Y-shaped taillamps and an updated bumper.
Inside, the Duster offers modern amenities like a 7-inch digital cluster and a new 10.1-inch touchscreen. It supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with an Arkamys 3D sound system and real-time traffic updates on its map.

The global market also sees a version with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 48V electric motor operating on the Miller cycle. This setup helps reduce fuel consumption during starts or acceleration. A regenerative braking system charges its 0.8 kWh battery.
An LPG variant is available that runs on both petrol and LPG using separate tanks with a capacity of 50 litres each. A dashboard button allows seamless switching between fuel types.

For India, the Duster might feature the same 1.2-litre engine with a 48V electric motor found in the South African model, possibly with 4X4 capabilities. However, it remains uncertain which engines will be available locally.
Market Competition and Pricing Strategy
The Duster will compete in the compact SUV segment against models like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Honda Elevate. The upcoming Renault Duster is likely to be priced affordably in India due to localization efforts.
This car is credited with popularizing SUVs in the Indian market. After being discontinued for some reasons, its return with new updates is expected to be well-received by the public.
DriveSpark Thinks
The Renault Duster car is expected to be launched soon. While many are talking about the car’s launch in South Africa, the news of its introduction in India has generated significant interest among potential buyers.
