2025 Mercedes-AMG G 63: Top Improvements Over Its Predecessor
The Mercedes-AMG G 63, featuring a 4.0-litre V8 engine with mild hybrid technology, has been launched in India at ₹3.60 crore ex-showroom. This iconic off-roader, known for its distinctive shape over the past four decades, now includes design and tech upgrades to maintain its competitive edge. While the basic silhouette remains familiar, subtle changes distinguish it from previous models.
Design Enhancements
Mercedes has introduced several design updates to the G 63. The grille now features vertical slats akin to AMG cars, finished in dark chrome. New colour options are available too. Inspired by the electric G-Class, the A-pillars are subtly rounded, and a lip is integrated into the windscreen to improve aerodynamics and reduce noise and vibration levels.
At the rear, an optional carbon-fibre spare wheel cover adds a premium touch. The alloy wheels have increased in size, now measuring up to 22 inches. These enhancements contribute to both aesthetics and performance.
Performance Specifications
The 2025 G 63 is powered by a handcrafted 4.0-litre V8 engine delivering 576 bhp and 850 Nm of torque. An additional 20 bhp boost comes from mild hybrid technology. It uses a 9-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters for manual control if desired.
Mercedes offers Race Start functionality, essentially launch control. With this feature, the G 63 can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 4.3 seconds, showcasing its impressive performance capabilities.
Technological Advancements
The cabin of the updated Mercedes-AMG G 63 has undergone significant changes. It now includes the new-generation MBUX infotainment system found in the GLS facelift. This system features a 12.3-inch touchscreen for infotainment and an equally sized digital instrument cluster.
For the first time, the Mercedes G Wagon includes a touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, enhancing connectivity and user experience.
