2025 Lexus RZ Expands All-Electric Lineup With New Entry-Level Grade And Enhanced Features
The 2025 Lexus RZ expands its offerings in the electric vehicle market by introducing an entry-level grade to its RZ 300e and RZ 450e AWD models. This addition brings the total to three grades, maintaining Lexus's reputation for a refined interior and smooth ride. The vehicle is manufactured at the Motomachi Plant in Toyota City, Japan, and will be available for purchase later this year.
The RZ 300e is equipped with a 72.8kWh lithium-ion battery from Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL), providing 201 horsepower. It features front-wheel drive (FWD) only, with an EPA-estimated range of 266 miles on 18-inch wheels and a combined MPGe rating of 125. With larger 20-inch wheels, the range drops to 224 miles. A subframe replaces the rear eAxle in this model to reduce noise and vibrations.
The RZ 450e uses the DIRECT4 all-wheel drive system, first seen in the Lexus RX. This system includes a rear eAxle paired with a front motor, delivering a total of 308 horsepower. The vehicle accelerates from 0-60 mph in five seconds. Its EPA-estimated range is 220 miles on 18-inch wheels, dropping to 196 miles with 20-inch wheels.
Lexus has replaced its traditional spindle grille with a spindle body design for the RZ, enhancing aerodynamics with features like a roof spoiler and minimal front grille opening. The interior offers a minimalist yet luxurious environment, benefiting from a compact powertrain that allows for better visibility and spaciousness. The cabin includes features like a panoramic glass roof and shift-by-wire technology.
The RZ's interior comes in three colour options: Thunderstorm and Macadamia, Palomino, and Dapple Gray. Ambient illumination is standard on Luxury grades, offering multiple themes and colours. The Luxury grade also features Ultrasuede trim made from sustainable materials.
Technology and Connectivity
The RZ is equipped with five USB ports for device charging needs. A standard 14-inch touchscreen provides easy access to controls, while cloud navigation offers real-time updates through Google POI data. Intelligent Assistant allows voice commands for various functions by saying "Hey Lexus."
Connectivity options include Bluetooth phone connectivity with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Wi-Fi Connect supports up to five devices, enabling integrated streaming services like Apple Music and Amazon Music.
Safety Features
Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 includes advanced safety features such as Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Road Sign Assist, and Proactive Driving Assist.
The system uses radar and camera technology to help maintain speed and distance from other vehicles while providing lane-keeping assistance. It also offers emergency steering support during critical situations.
Charging Options
The Lexus RZ comes with a dual-voltage charging cable suitable for both home outlets and public charging stations. Under optimal conditions, it can charge fully in about nine hours using a Level 2 charger or reach 80% capacity in approximately half an hour with a DC fast charger.
Lexus dealers offer an option to purchase ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 chargers for faster home charging solutions.
Owner Benefits
Lexus provides RZ owners access to concierge services via phone for any BEV-related questions. The Lexus Reserve program continues to offer complimentary rental services for those who purchase or lease an RZ between 2023-2025.
This program allows customers up to thirty reserve days over three years from their purchase or lease date.
