2025 Honda Pilot SUV Awarded IIHS Top Safety Pick+ For Outstanding Safety Features
The 2025 Honda Pilot SUV has achieved the highest accolade from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), earning the 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) rating. This recognition is due to its top ratings in crashworthiness evaluations, pedestrian front crash prevention, and headlight performance. Enhanced rear seat belts in the 2025 Pilot have also improved second-row passenger protection in IIHS' updated moderate overlap front test.
Honda's dedication to safety is evident in its global goal to eliminate traffic collision fatalities involving its motorcycles and automobiles by 2050. The company operates advanced crash-test facilities in Ohio and Japan, contributing to pioneering efforts in crashworthiness, collision compatibility, and pedestrian safety. Honda's proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure and next-generation airbag technology provide high levels of collision protection for occupants.
All 2025 Pilot models come equipped with the Honda Sensing® suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies. This suite includes Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). These features are now standard on all new Honda models, present in nearly 8 million vehicles on U.S. roads today.
When redesigned for the 2023 model year, the Pilot incorporated an enhanced ACE™ structure optimized for better crash compatibility with smaller vehicles and improved occupant protection in oblique frontal collisions. The new design includes a three-chamber front passenger airbag that mitigates severe head rotation or sliding off the airbag during angled frontal impacts. For 2025, updated load-limiting retractors for outboard second-row seats further reduce potential injuries measured in IIHS testing.
In addition to IIHS testing, every fully evaluated Honda model in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) for the 2024 and 2025 model years has received a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score1. This underscores Honda's commitment to achieving outstanding safety across its vehicle lineup.
