New 2025 Honda Civic Hatchback Hybrid Hits Dealerships With Top Fuel Economy
The refreshed 2025 Honda Civic Hatchback, built exclusively in Indiana, is now available at dealerships. It features enhanced styling, new technology, and a hybrid-electric powertrain that improves performance and fuel efficiency. This model marks the first time the Civic Hatchback is offered with a hybrid option in the U.S., boasting 232 lb.-ft of torque and an impressive 50 mpg EPA city fuel economy rating.
Honda's electrification strategy aims for about 40% of Civic sales to be hybrid-electric models. The 2025 Civic Hatchback comes in three trims: Sport, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid. The starting MSRP for the well-equipped Sport trim is $27,450, while the Sport Hybrid starts at $29,950. Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda Auto Sales, stated, "With our new Honda Civic hybrid models, which now includes the first-ever Civic Hatchback hybrid, we've electrified America's retail #1 compact car and our highest volume gateway model."

The Honda Sensing® suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies is standard on all Civic models. For 2025, it includes increased system visibility for motorcycles and bicycles for the Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with Pedestrian Detection. Additionally, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) have smoother functions. Forward Collision Warning and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW) are also standard.
Blind spot information with Rear Cross Traffic Monitor is now standard across the Civic Hatchback lineup. Every Civic features the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure designed to protect occupants in various frontal collisions. The front driver's airbag uses a donut-shaped structure to cradle the head and reduce rotation during impacts.
The 2025 Civic Hatchback offers two new powertrains, including Honda's award-winning two-motor hybrid system. The top trims—Civic Sport Hybrid and Civic Sport Touring Hybrid—feature this powerful and efficient system. With 232 lb.-ft of torque, these trims offer quicker acceleration than the previous 1.5L turbo-powered Civic while achieving higher EPA fuel economy ratings of 50 mpg city and 48 mpg combined.
Linear Shift Control enhances driving by mimicking conventional drivetrain gear shifts under acceleration. All hybrid models have optimized ride and handling with unique spring and damper tuning and specially-developed tires. They also feature low noise levels thanks to Active Noise Control and wheel resonators in the Sport Touring trim.

Interior & Technology
The interior of all hybrid models now offers a gray color option. Standard features include front USB-C ports across all trims. The top-of-the-line Sport Touring Hybrid integrates Google built-in apps like Google Assistant and Google Maps for a connected driving experience with a complimentary three-year unlimited data plan.
This trim also includes leather seating, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, a larger 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™ compatibility, and a wireless smartphone charger. Three new colors—Solar Silver Metallic, Urban Gray Pearl, and Sand Dune Pearl—enhance the exterior appearance of the 2025 Civic Hatchback.
Manufacturing & Production
The Civic Hatchback is produced at Honda's auto plant in Greensburg, Indiana, while the Sedan is built in Alliston, Ontario, Canada. Honda has manufactured over 11 million Civics in North America since starting production in America in 1982. Associates at Honda Power Unit Operations in Ohio build both the two-motor hybrid-electric power unit and the Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine for the Civic hybrid.
Honda's lineup includes clean, safe vehicles sold through more than 1,000 independent U.S. dealers. The brand's electrified vehicle lineup comprises models like the Accord hybrid, CR-V hybrid, Prologue SUV, and now the new Civic hybrid.
The refreshed exterior styling of every 2025 Honda Civic Sedan and Hatchback includes a more aggressive front fascia inspired by the turbocharged Type R model. New hybrid-powered trims feature distinct body-colored headlamp garnishes and front lower spoilers for a sportier look.
The popular Sport trim now offers either a refined 2.0-liter engine or a powerful 200 hp hybrid-electric powertrain. With an Atkinson cycle engine paired with a retuned CVT transmission, this trim achieves an improved combined EPA fuel economy rating of 34 mpg (+2). Standard features include dark trim accents and black alloy wheels.
The commitment to safety continues with advanced active and passive safety technology standard on every model. This includes side airbags for drivers' knees as well as front-passenger knee airbags to minimize severe brain trauma during angled frontal collisions.
