2025 GMC Terrain Unveiled: More Space, Tech, And Safety In Compact SUV Segment
The next-generation 2025 GMC Terrain has been unveiled, showcasing a new design that enhances the brand's premium compact SUV. Launching initially in the Elevation trim, this model introduces more standard technology and equipment than previous versions.
"The 2025 GMC Terrain builds on GMC’s strengths and offers our latest premium technology and safety features, while bringing a fresh, bold design to our two-row SUV," said Duncan Aldred, global vice president, Buick and GMC. "With the next-gen Terrain and updated 2025 Yukon both slated to launch later this year, the entire GMC SUV lineup will be refreshed by year end, giving customers the latest design, the best technology and the best driving experience we’ve ever offered in our SUVs."
The 2025 Terrain includes over 15 standard safety and driver assistance features. These include Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Reverse Automatic Braking, Side Bicyclist Alert, and Blind Zone Steering Assist.
Additionally, all models come with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel for added comfort. The suite of safety features aims to provide drivers with enhanced protection on the road.
The new Terrain is equipped with a 15-inch-diagonal Premium GMC Infotainment System and an 11-inch-diagonal driver information center. This system allows up to three applications to be viewed simultaneously on the screen. Drivers can use Google Assistant to reply to messages, get directions via Google Maps or control vehicle functions.
New for 2025 are up to eight available camera views, including an optional rear camera mirror – a first for the GMC Terrain. Other available technologies include a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot capability, HD Surround Vision camera, Rainsense wipers, heated wiper park, and AutoSense power liftgate.
Design Enhancements
The 2025 Terrain boasts a more athletic stance with a grille that connects new headlamps to lower fog lights. This design gives it a distinctive front-end look. A two-tone roof option in black or gray is also available for the first time in this model.
Inside, the cabin features long sweeping lines that accentuate its width. Chrome decorations sweep across various interior elements like the IP insert and console armrest. Wireless chargers are conveniently located near the armrest for easy access.
Performance Specifications
All Terrains come standard with a 1.5L Turbocharged engine delivering 175 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle supports up to 1,500 pounds of maximum trailering capacity. All-wheel-drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission are standard on Elevation at launch.
Upcoming Trims: AT4 and Denali
