2025 Ford Bronco Stroppe Special Edition Celebrates Baja Racing Heritage With Modern Features
The Ford Bronco Stroppe Special Edition is set to make a comeback in 2025, reviving a name synonymous with off-road racing success. This new model pays homage to the original Stroppe Baja Broncos of the '60s and '70s, blending classic desert-racing spirit with modern off-road capabilities. It features Fox Internal Bypass Dampers and an EcoBoost 2.7-liter V6 engine, embodying the G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Terrain) ethos.
Bill Stroppe's legacy in off-road competition laid the groundwork for today's Bronco models. The original Stroppe Baja Broncos were designed to conquer Baja's challenging landscapes straight from the factory. The latest Bronco Stroppe Special Edition continues this tradition with advanced features like Fox Internal Bypass Dampers and a powerful EcoBoost engine.
The 2025 Bronco Stroppe Special Edition sports a modern twist on its predecessor's iconic Calypso Coral, Wimbledon White, and Astra Blue livery. New heritage paint colours include Oxford White and Code Orange, marking Code Orange's debut outside the Raptor family. An Atlas Blue painted hardtop complements these colours, while a matte black hood reduces sun glare during high-speed desert drives.
This special edition is only available as a two-door model, replacing the Wildtrak in the lineup. It boasts features like a Stabilizer Bar Disconnect, High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension 3.0 (HOSS 3.0), and 35-inch Goodyear Territory RT tires to ensure it lives up to the Stroppe name in off-road performance.
Inside, the Bronco Stroppe Special Edition stands out with a white instrument mid-panel first seen in the Bronco Heritage model, enhanced by Code Orange accents throughout. These accents appear on elements like the "Bronco" wordmark on the dash, G.O.A.T. mode dial bezel, grab handles' interiors, and contrast stitching on seats and dash topper.
The vehicle also includes unique branding elements such as "Stroppe Special Edition" and "Bronco" logos on its fenders. Additional exterior features include squared-off high-clearance fenders in Code Orange, removable side steps with integrated rock rails, 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels with matte-black beadlock rings and gloss-black spokes, and a matte black tailgate.
Historical Significance of Bill Stroppe
Bill Stroppe is celebrated as a "legendary builder of winning off-road vehicles" by the Off-Road Motorsport Hall of Fame. His work on Broncos made them formidable competitors in events like Baja 1000. In 1969, a Stroppe-prepared Bronco achieved an outright win at Baja—a feat unmatched by any other stock 4x4 since then.
Stroppe also collaborated with Ford motorsports legend Parnelli Jones to secure multiple race victories using Broncos driven by Jones under Stroppe's guidance. This partnership cemented Bronco's competitive legacy at major events like NORRA Mexican 1000.

Additionally, Ford has launched new merchandise inspired by this special edition vehicle which can be purchased from their merchandise store.
"We've been hinting at the return of a Bronco Stroppe Special Edition with our competition Broncos since returning to the Baja 1000 with the Bronco R in 2020," said North American Design Director Gordon Platto. "That combination of Code Orange, Oxford White, and Atlas Blue was chosen very deliberately on our race vehicles."
Ted Ryan from Ford Archives noted that Bill Stroppe not only established Bronco’s competition legacy but also helped establish its consumer appeal through his work on off-road vehicles like those used at events such as NORRA Mexican 1000 or Baja races where they won multiple times thanks largely due to his expertise.
