2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Unveiled - Sports Updated Design & Mild-Hybrid Tech
German luxury carmaker BMW has revealed the new 2 Series Gran Coupe (F74). The 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe brings design changes, fresh interior technology and a new mild-hybrid powertrain for the top-spec M235 xDrive variant.
The updated BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe will be offered in just 3 variant levels - 220, 220d and M235 xDrive - when it goes on sale in Europe in March 2025. The updated 220 variant draws power from a turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder with mild hybrid tech while the M235 continues to be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo four-pot.

The 48V mild hybrid setup on the 220 variant of the new 2 Series Gran Coupe means that the German sedan produces 168bhp and 280Nm of peak torque which is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission. 0-100km takes 7.9 seconds with the new 220 Gran Coupe and the top speed is capped off at 230km/h.
The M235 xDrive variant, on the other hand, sees its 2.0-litre turbocharged engine push out 296bhp and 400Nm of peak torque to all four wheels via a seven-speed auto gearbox and BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive setup. The 0-100km/h sprint takes just 4.9 seconds and the top speed of the most potent version of the new 2 Series Gran Coupe is 250km/h.

The lone diesel in the lineup comes in the form of the new 220d, which draws power from a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that pushes out 147bhp and 360Nm of peak torque which is sent to the front wheels by the same dual-clutch seven-speed automatic gearbox as found on its petrol siblings. The 220d Gran Coupe takes 8 seconds to do the 0-100km/h sprint and its top speed is 226km/h.
There are a few more mechanical changes that BMW has done to the new 2 Series Gran Coupe to help it metamorphize into this new avatar. The new car features a new engine strut brace (optional on the 220 siblings) along with new shock absorbers and dampers with the 235 being offered with sport steering and Adaptive M Dampers that lower the car by up to 8 millimetres. The 235 also sports updated front brakes from the M3 and M4.

BMW has heavily revised the design of the 2 Series Gran Coupe for its new F74 avatar. The updated sedan looks aggressive and wider with sleek, angular headlamps flanking a flatter kidney grille setup. The new front bumper also sports a wider air dam lower which sits above the splitter element.
The sides feature new alloy wheels that range from 17 to 19 inches in size. There are updated side skirts and a new 2 badge on the signature 'Hoffmiester kink' in the rear pillar. The rear sports new taillights with the 235 variant also getting a quad-tip exhaust setup.

The changes in the design of the new 2 Series Gran Coupe mean that the updated sedan has grown by a bit. The 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is 20mm longer than its predecessor as well as 15mm wider and taller than the car it replaces. The wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,670mm.
Step inside the new 2 Series Gran Coupe and there are quite a few changes to see. The all-new dash sports twin 10.25-inch displays for the instrumentation and infotainment running the latest BMW OS9 software setup. The touchscreen infotainment unit supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and allows for OTA updates. The M235's sports steering wheel features a 12-o'clock stripe and the variant also gets a head-up display and Alcantara M Sport seats.
