2025 Audi Q5 SUV Revealed: Bigger & Better

The Audi Q5 has been a favourite among car enthusiasts globally, including in India. The current generation has been around for several years and is starting to show age. To address this, Audi has introduced an entirely new generation of the Q5, set to launch next year.

The 2025 Q5 is the first SUV built on Audi's Premium Platform Combustion (PPC). This platform allows Audi to produce high-volume models across various segments. The new Q5 not only boasts a fresh design but is also larger both inside and out. It features an adjustable rear seat that can be moved lengthways and tilted, enhancing either boot space or passenger comfort as needed.

Enhanced Technology and Comfort

One of the standout features of the new Q5 is its tech-savvy interior. The dashboard includes three digital screens, with one dedicated to the front seat passenger. This setup ensures a modern and interactive driving experience. Additionally, the PPC architecture supports vehicles with longitudinally installed combustion engines.

All models in the new Q5 range will come equipped with MHEV hybrid technology at launch. The MHEV Plus system, featuring a 48V electrical system, assists the combustion engine. This system enables limited electric manoeuvring and parking capabilities.

Powertrain and Performance

The powertrain generator (PTG) in the new Q5 provides an additional drive torque of up to 230Nm and up to 24bhp. The 48V system also powers an electrically driven air conditioning compressor. This means that even when the engine is off at a red light, the air conditioning continues to function at full capacity.

The lithium-ion battery in vehicles with MHEV Plus has a storage capacity of 1.7kWh. The belt starter generator's primary roles are to start the engine and supply electrical energy to the battery.

Market Launch and Competition

In Europe, the new Q5 will be available with three engine options, offering power outputs between 205bhp and 363bhp. The vehicle will debut in Germany and other European markets in early 2025. It is expected to arrive in India later to compete with models like the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.

The new Q5 offers increased boot volume when rear seats are folded down, reaching up to 1,473 litres depending on the model variant. This flexibility makes it suitable for various needs, from family trips to transporting large items.

Audi's introduction of this new generation Q5 aims to maintain its popularity by combining advanced technology with enhanced comfort and performance features.
