2024 Volkswagen ID.4 Electric SUV Secures TOP SAFETY PICK Honors From IIHS

Volkswagen of America, Inc. has announced that the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV has been named a TOP SAFETY PICK by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). This accolade places the ID.4 alongside the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport on the prestigious list.

To qualify for the 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK award, vehicles must achieve good ratings in several tests, including the small overlap front, original moderate overlap front, and updated side tests. Additionally, vehicles must have acceptable or good-rated headlights across all trim levels and an acceptable or good rating in the pedestrian front crash prevention evaluation.

VW ID.4 Wins Safety Honors

The ID.4 meets these criteria with its acceptable or good headlights, depending on the trim level. Its standard front crash prevention system also earns an acceptable rating in the IIHS pedestrian test. However, the ID.4 did not undergo the updated moderate overlap front test, making it ineligible for the higher-tier TOP SAFETY PICK+ award.

The IQ.DRIVE system is standard on all ID.4 trims for model year 2024. This advanced system uses front and rear radar, a front camera, and several ultrasound sensors to gather data from the surrounding area. It enables features such as Travel Assist (semi-automated driving assistance), Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring), Active Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor), Rear Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Stop and Go, Lane Assist (Lane Keeping System), and Emergency Assist (semi-automated vehicle assistance in a medical emergency).

Additional Features

In addition to IQ.DRIVE, the 2024 ID.4 includes standard Park Distance Control, Park Assist Plus with Memory Parking, Dynamic Road Sign Display, Light Assist (High Beam Control for headlights), and available Area View (Overhead View Camera).

Pricing

The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the 2024 ID.4 starts at $39,735 for 62 kWh models and $44,875 for 82 kWh models. The destination charge is $1,425.
