Porsche Cars North America Announces Finalists For The 2024 Classic Restoration Challenge
The 2024 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge finalists have been announced by Porsche Cars North America (PCNA). The competition, now in its fourth year, highlights classic Porsche sports cars from the 1950s to the 2000s. These vehicles receive expert care from Porsche-trained technicians who share a deep passion for these iconic cars. The final showdown is set for October 4th at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
Entries were judged over the summer by experts from PCNA and the Porsche Club of America. More than 55 vehicles participated, representing three sales areas: East, South-Central, and West. Jonathan Sieber, Senior Manager of Porsche Classic, remarked on the dedication shown by each team. "This year’s competition was truly inspiring," he said. "Each team’s dedication and passion exemplify the true spirit of craftsmanship and passion for vintage Porsche vehicle restoration."
Porsche Centers across the U.S. competed in three categories: Preservation, Restoration, and Individualization. In the East area, Paul Miller's 2002 Boxster won in Preservation; Porsche Mechanicsburg's 1997 911 S (Type 993) took Restoration; and Porsche Englewood's 1985 911 Carrera Coupe excelled in Individualization.
In the South-Central area, Harper Porsche's 1994 928 GTS led in Preservation; Porsche Louisville's 1977 911 Turbo topped Restoration; while Porsche Charlottesville's 1996 911 Carrera 4 (Type 993) stood out in Individualization.
The West area saw Gaudin Porsche of Las Vegas win Preservation with a 1986 911 Targa; Porsche San Francisco claimed Restoration with a 2006 Cayman S; and Porsche Tucson impressed with a customized 1979 911 SC in Individualization.
Attendees at each event also voted for their favourite entries. Honorable mentions for People’s Choice included a 1975 911 Targa from Porsche Exchange in the East area, a classic 1956 356 Speedster from Porsche Minneapolis in South Central, and a second nod to an '86 Targa from Santa Clarita in the West.
