2024 Citroen C3 Hatchback Launched In India At Rs 6.16 Lakh: Receives Feature Updates Along With Price Hike

Citroen India launched the updated 2024 C3 hatchback in India at Rs 6.16 lakh (ex-showroom). The newly launched 2024 Citroen C3 Hatchback now features enhanced creature comforts and updated specifications, aiming to strengthen its market position in India.

2024 Citroen C3 Prices

Prices for the 2024 Citroen C3 start from Rs 6.16 lakh (Ex-showroom) for the base Live PureTech 82 MT variant and go up to Rs 9.42 lakh (Ex-showroom) for the top-spec Shine Turbo DT + Vibe. However, Citroen has yet to announce the price for the C3 Shine PureTech 110 AT variant equipped with a 6-speed 'Automatique' torque converter gearbox.

Citroen C3 India New Features amp amp Price Rise

Interestingly, Citroen has removed the Turbo Petrol option from the Feel trim, making it available only in the top-spec Shine trim with both manual and automatic transmission options. The new model includes LED projector headlights, an automatic climate control AC system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster.

New Features and Ergonomic Improvements

The updated C3 Hatchback now comes with six airbags (available in Feel and Shine trims), electronically foldable ORVMs, and other enhancements. Citroen has also addressed some ergonomic issues that existed since its initial launch, such as the positioning of power window controls.

Despite these updates, there are still notable feature gaps when compared to competitors like Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter. Additionally, crucial safety features are not standard across all variants. The eC3's 0 Star Global NCAP crash safety rating also raises concerns as it shares the same CMP skateboard platform as the C3.

Powertrain Options

The powertrains remain unchanged with two engine options: PureTech 82 and PureTech 110. The PureTech 82 engine produces 82 PS and 115 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The more powerful PureTech 110 engine delivers 110 PS of peak power and is available with either a 6-speed manual (190 Nm) or a 6-speed automatic (205 Nm) gearbox.

Citroen initially entered India's mainstream car market with the C3 Hatchback after selling the imported C5 Aircross. While it offered competitive pricing, it achieved this by cutting down on features and overall comfort. Later, Citroen introduced the Shine variant with some essential feature updates but did not see significant sales improvement.

The recent updates to the C3 Hatchback seem promising but come with a price hike that might deter potential buyers who believe these features should have been included from the beginning. Nonetheless, Citroen's latest efforts indicate a step towards enhancing their offerings in India's competitive automotive market.

The introduction of these new features aims to make the C3 Hatchback more appealing to consumers looking for better-equipped vehicles without compromising on performance. As Citroen continues to refine its strategy in India, it remains to be seen how these changes will impact their market presence.
