New Yamaha R3 Launched In India At Rs 4.65 Lakh - Premium Performance Redefined!
Ahead of the new year, Yamaha launched the much-awaited R3 motorcycle in India with a price tag of Rs 4.65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This new motorcycle is expected to spice up the performance motorcycle segment in India.
That being said, the new Yamaha R3 arrives with a significant price tag, a reflection of its import status as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) from Indonesia. In comparison, Yamaha previously brought the older R3 motorcycle to India via the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route.

In terms of design, the new Yamaha R3 does not incorporate the Japanese automaker's most recent design language, a characteristic shared by models such as the R1, R6, R7, and even the R15.
Despite that, the new Yamaha R3 still manages to exude a sense of style and sportiness. This is primarily due to the addition of an Upside Down (USD) fork in the latest iteration which enhances its aesthetic appeal.

Retaining the familiarity of its predecessor, the latest R3 continues to utilize the same chassis. Furthermore, the robust 321cc, parallel twin engine remains unaltered, delivering a punchy 42bhp and 29.5Nm of peak torque.
According to Yamaha, the new R3 tips the scales at a svelte 169 kilograms, making it remarkably nimble and user-friendly. Its accessibility is further enhanced by its rider-friendly seat height of 780mm.

Even with the low seat height, the new Yamaha R3's ergonomics and ride quality have been subjects of praise, which you can delve deeper into through comprehensive ride reviews later.
In terms of technology, the Yamaha R3 adopts a minimalist approach, shunning complex riding aids for a straightforward experience with the essential inclusion of dual-channel ABS. It also eschews a modern TFT display in favor of a traditional LCD instrument console.
At its current price point, the Yamaha R3 stands above the KTM RC 390, which retails at Rs 3.18 lakh (ex-showroom), showcasing the premium associated with its CBU status. However, it finds a more proximate competitor in the Aprilia RS 457, recently launched at Rs 4.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
Thoughts About The New Yamaha R3
Despite its premium pricing, the R3 motorcycle is likely to attract a niche audience who value its blend of performance, style, and simplicity in an increasingly complex and competitive market.
