Xiaomi Advances In Electric Car Production - Anticipated Launch In Early 2024
Xiaomi, a prominent technology company headquartered in Beijing, China, has emerged as a global leader in the consumer electronics industry. Known for its innovative and diverse range of tech products, Xiaomi has achieved remarkable success since its establishment in 2010.
The combination of cutting-edge technology, user-friendly design, and competitive pricing has propelled Xiaomi into the spotlight, making it a household name and a significant player in the ever-evolving tech landscape.

The Chinese tech company has been given the green light by the country's state planner National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) to produce electric vehicles, as reported by Reuters.
This marks a significant milestone in the smartphone giant's aim to start manufacturing cars by early next year. Nevertheless, the company is required to secure approval from the Ministry of Industry and Information (MIIT) before initiating the production of electric vehicles.
Xiaomi has introduced its debut electric car, known as Modena and codenamed MS11. This electric sedan is anticipated to have a more affordable price compared to the Tesla Model S. Xiaomi's entry into China's car production sector coincides with challenges faced by the world's largest automobile market.

Moreover, when Xiaomi starts manufacturing electric vehicles, it will join the ranks of other technology giants globally who have been venturing into the electric car market recently.
For instance, well-known technology giants like Apple and Sony have shown their inclination towards entering the automobile industry. Sony even took a step further by revealing a prototype of its electric vehicle, which was created in collaboration with Honda.
Regarding Xiaomi's aspiration to manufacture cars, the company had committed to investing $10 billion in the automobile sector over ten years. With the aim of entering the electric vehicle market, the tech firm has set a target to start mass-producing its initial vehicles in the first half of 2024.
During the period when it was awaiting approval from regulatory bodies, Xiaomi apparently proceeded to build a factory in Beijing with the capacity to manufacture 200,000 electric vehicles each year. The report also discloses that Xiaomi's goal is to manufacture approximately 100,000 electric vehicles in the year 2024.
In pursuit of this objective, Xiaomi has supposedly increased its efforts to hire workers for its EV plant, in preparation for a production escalation in December. Interestingly, the company is said to be considering the utilization of its numerous stores in China as exhibition-spaces for showcasing the forthcoming electric cars.
