Volvo C40 Recharge Deliveries Commence In India – First Units Delivered In Tamilnadu & Kerala

Volvo Auto India recently launched the new Volvo C40 Recharge electric Coupe SUV in the country. Now, the Swedish automaker has commenced the deliveries of its latest EV, starting with its customers in Tamilnadu and Kerala.

Speaking about the Volvo C40 Recharge, the electric Coupe SUV is priced at Rs 61.25 lakh (ex-showroom) and the model is currently being sold alongside the Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUV.

Moreover, what's more interesting is that the Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUV packs a similar powertrain setup and it is priced at Rs 56.90 lakh (ex-showroom), which is Rs 4.35 lakh cheaper than the new Volvo C40 Recharge Electric Coupe SUV.

However, the Volvo C40 Recharge electric Coupe SUV being a newer model comes with an added desirability factor. Furthermore, the model clearly looks a lot more modern and sharper than the XC40 Recharge electric SUV with its stylish coupe-ish silhouette.

That being said, the new Volvo C40 Recharge electric Coupe SUV looks distinctly Volvo with its crisp lines and Thor-hammer headlights. Also, design elements such as the sloping roofline, long bonnet, and high ground clearance give the C40 Recharge a distinct silhouette.

The Volvo C40 Recharge electric Coupe SUV is currently available in 6 colour options. These shades include Fjord Blue, Crystal White, Onyx Black, Saga Green, Fusion Red and Cloud Blue. It is also worth mentioning that the first 4 shades are already available with the Volvo XC40 Recharge.

Under the body panels, the new Volvo C40 Recharge packs in a large 78kWh battery pack and two electric motors placed on each axle. Together, these two electric motors produce a total of 402bhp and 660Nm of torque.

Thanks to such a powerful setup, the Volvo C40 Recharge can sprint to 100km/h from a standstill in just 4.7 seconds (0.2 seconds quicker than the Volvo XC40 Recharge). However, despite its powerful setup, the top speed of the Volvo C40 Recharge is limited to just 180km/h.

In terms of charging, Volvo claims that the Volvo C40 Recharge can charge from 10 per cent to 80 per cent battery capacity in just 27 minutes using a 150kW DC fast charger. Also, the WLTP range for the Volvo C40 Recharge is rated as 530 kilometres.

Thoughts: The Volvo C40 Recharge is a stylish yet very practical electric SUV. Furthermore, the powerful powertrain setup ensures the user will never run out of entertainment. We expect this new model to further strengthen Volvo's grip in the premium EV segment in India.
