Volkswagen Virtus & Skoda Slavia Bag 5-Star Safety Rating At Global-NCAP – Check Out All Details
Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia recently bagged 5-Star safety rating at the Global-NCAP for both Adult and Child Occupant Protection. This makes both these models one of the safest sedans you can buy in India.
It is also worth mentioning that both the Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia sedans are built on the same MQB-A0 IN platform that underpins the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq SUVs.
What's even more interesting is that the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq SUVs already received 5-Star safety rating at the Global-NCAP. In fact, the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun SUVs are among the first models to be tested under the more demanding crash test requirements.
Speaking about Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus, both sedans feature top-tier safety features such as 6 airbags, hill hold control, ABS with EBD, traction control (TC), Brake Disc Wiping, Roll Over Protection, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), multi-collision braking system (MBS), hill start assist, ISOFIX points and more.
Apart from that, both sedans come with features such as a large touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, an electric sunroof, automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, automatic wipers, cruise control, rear AC vents, auto headlamps, auto wipers and more.
In addition to that, both Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus use identical engine options where the base engine option is a 1.0-litre, turbocharged, 3-cylinder engine with 113bhp of power and 178Nm of torque. Also, both models can be specified with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The next engine option is a larger 1.5-litre, turbocharged petrol engine with 147.5bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. Gearbox options include a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed DSG unit. However, the Virtus sedan with this engine comes exclusively with a 7-speed DSG unit.
At present, prices for the Volkswagen Virtus sedan start from Rs 11.48 lakh (ex-showroom, India), whereas the base variant of the Skoda Slavia sedan is priced at Rs 11.39 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
