Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus To Become More Expensive From April 1 - All You Need To Know
Volkswagen has announced that it will hike the prices of the Taigun SUV and Virtus sedan in India by 2 per cent, effective from April 1. Also, the German automaker has added a few features to justify the price hike.
Diving into details, MY2023 iterations of both the Volkswagen Taigun SUV and Virtus sedan now come with rear fog lamps as standard across all variants and features such as Auto Headlights, Auto Coming Home and Leaving Home lights are available from Highline trim level onwards.

In addition to that, MY2023 Volkswagen Taigun SUV and Virtus sedan comply with the more stringent RDE and BS6 Phase 2 emission norms. Also, the updated cars also compatible with the E20 fuel.
That being said, both the Volkswagen Taigun SUV and the Volkswagen Virtus sedan are built on the same MQB-A0 IN platform. Moreover, both the models scored a 5-Star safety rating under the updated Global-NCAP.

Also, both the models come with the same engine options, where the base powertrain is a 1.0-litre TSI engine with 113bhp of power and 178Nm of torque. This engine on both models comes mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The next engine option on offer is a more powerful 1.5-litre TSI engine with 147.5bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. This powertrain comes with a 7-speed DSG gearbox as standard, but customers can also specify a 6-speed manual transmission if they opt for a Taigun SUV.

Notable features in both models include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, a fully-digital instrument cluster, electric sunroof, automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, automatic wipers, cruise control, rear AC vents, auto headlamps, auto wipers and much more.
At present, the Volkswagen Virtus sedan prices start from Rs 11.31 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the base Comfortline variant, whereas the base variant of the Volkswagen Taigun SUV is priced at Rs 11.55 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Thoughts About Volkswagen India's Upcoming Price Hike
Volkswagen India has blamed 'rising input costs' as the reason for the upcoming 2 per cent price hike and with the launch of the new 2023 Hyundai Verna and Honda City facelift, we expect sales of the Virtus sedan to slow down in the coming months.
