Volkswagen ID.4 GTX Showcased In India - Launch Soon?
German carmaker Volkswagen has showcased the ID.4 electric crossover on the sidelines of its Annual Brand Conference 2023 event in the city of Kochi, Kerala.
The Volkswagen ID.4 seen at the firm's Annual Brand Conference in Kochi was the top-spec performance-oriented GTX variant which features a dual motor, all-wheel drive setup with nearly 300bhp on tap.

The Volkswagen ID.4 is offered in 4 variants in international markets - Pure, Pure Performance, Pro - all featuring a single motor RWD setup - and the dual-motor AWD GTX.
The VW ID.4 Pure and Pure Performance both offer a WLTP range of 346km on a single charge. The Pure's setup is rated at 146bhp and 220Nm and will sprint from 0-100km/h in 10.9 seconds. The Pure's battery pack is rated at 52kWh.

The Pure Performance up the output from the single motor RWD setup to 168bhp and 310Nm of torque which drops the 0-100km/h time down to 9 seconds. The Pure Performance also sports the same 52kWh battery pack.
The ID.4 Pro model sports a larger 77kWh battery pack that increases the range to 522km on the WLTP cycle. The motor output of the ID.4 Pro rises to 201bhp and 310Nm of peak torque while the 0-100km/h time drops to 8.4 seconds. All RWD models of the ID.4 are limited to a top speed of 160km/h.

The GTX is the only all-wheel-drive version of the ID.4 and sports the same 77kWh battery pack as the Pro. The ID.4 GTX delivers a range of 482km (WLTP) on a single charge.
The ID.4 GTX's dual-motor setup produces 295bhp and 310Nm of peak torque which is sent to all four wheels of the electric crossover. The VW ID.4 GTX sprints from 0-100km in just 6.3 seconds and has a top speed of 180km/h.

The ID.4 GTX from VW gets a few more sporty design features like different LED lights at the front and the rear, GTX badges and a spoiler among other features. The ID.4 GTX also sports a different interior with a 12-inch infotainment screen, red contrast stitching and optional sports seats.
The VW ID.4 is expected to launch in India this year as a CBU. The electric crossover is expected to be imported into India in limited numbers. Expect the Volkswagen ID.4 to rival the Kia EV6 in our market and command a price tag of around Rs 60 lakh.
