Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor Name Trademarked – Rebadged Maruti Suzuki Fronx In The Works
Toyota has trademarked the "Urban Cruiser Taisor" moniker in India. This new name is likely to be used for Toyota's upcoming sub-4m SUV, which is most likely to be the rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx sub-4m SUV.
This means, Toyota will soon have a product in the highly competitive sub-4m SUV segment in India. This will help Toyota boost its sales figures, and the Japanese automaker could highly benefit from the added revenue.

That being said, the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor SUV will sport a redesigned front and rear section that is more in line with Toyota's current product portfolio. Moreover, we also expect minor changes in the interior colour combination and upholstery.
Moreover, any changes introduced to the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor SUV compared to the Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV will be purely cosmetic. This means the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor SUV will be mechanically identical to the Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV.

As such, the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor SUV is likely to sport the same 3 engine options as the Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV. On top of this, transmission options in the upcoming Urban Cruiser Taisor SUV are also likely to remain the same as the Fronx SUV.
Speaking about the powertrain in the Fronx SUV, the base 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, petrol engine produces 88.5 bhp and 113Nm of peak torque. Also, this engine can be specified with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT unit.
On the other hand, the more powerful 1.0-litre, turbocharged engine puts out 98.6bhp and 147.6Nm of torque. Moreover, this engine option can be specified with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The last engine option is compatible with CNG fuel and it is based on the base 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, petrol engine. In CNG mode, this engine is tuned to produce 76.43bhp and 98.5Nm torque. Also, this engine comes exclusively mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Thoughts About The Upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor SUV
With the launch of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor SUV, the Japanese automaker will once again mark its entry into the highly competitive sub-4m SUV. Since this model is based on the highly successful Fronx SUV, we expect Toyota to capitalise on this success, and further boost its sales.
