Toyota Rumion To Be Available In 4 Variants – Automatic Variant To Be Available In Top-Spec Guise

Toyota recently revealed the upcoming Rumion MPV ahead of the festive season in India. The upcoming Toyota Rumion MPV is actually a rebadged version of the highly successful Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV.

Now, Toyota has revealed that the upcoming Rumion MPV will be available in 4 different variants - S MT, G MT, V MT, and V AT. This means the automatic variant of the Toyota Rumion MPV will only be available in the top-spec 'V' trim level.

Toyota Rumion

Speaking about the Toyota Rumion, this upcoming MPV is the fourth badge-engineered Toyota product in India. It is also worth mentioning that the upcoming Rumion will be the Japanese automaker's most affordable MPV in the country.

In terms of design, the Toyota Rumion sports a new front bumper and grille. Along with this, the upcoming MPV also comes with new dual-tone alloy wheels and we expect a new rear bumper as well.

The interior of the upcoming Toyota Rumion MPV also features a few minor changes compared to the interior of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Some of these noticeable differences include a blacked-out dashboard with wood-like inserts. However, the upholstery is similar to that of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.

In terms of features, we expect the upcoming Toyota Rumion MPV to feature a similar set of equipment as the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV. However, it is safe to expect a few changes in the equipment list across respective trim levels.

Coming to the powertrain, the upcoming Toyota Rumion MPV will feature three powertrain options, and all of these powertrains will be a direct lift from the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV.

That being said, the 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine in the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is tuned to produce 101.6bhp and 136.8Nm of torque. Also, this engine can be optioned with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Apart from these two powertrain options, Toyota will also launch the CNG variant of the Rumion MPV. This variant uses a modified version of this engine that has been designed to run on both CNG and petrol.

This dual-fuel powertrain in the CNG mode, puts out 88bhp and 121.5Nm of torque. Also, this engine comes exclusively with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Also, Toyota claims the Rumion CNG can return a fuel efficiency of 26.11km/kg.

Thoughts: The introduction of the Toyota Rumion MPV ahead of the festive season will help the Japanese automaker significantly boost its overall sales figures in India. Also, we expect the base variant of the Rumion to be slightly more expensive than the base variant of the Ertiga MPV.
