Toyota Rumion MPV Revealed – Gets 3 Powertrain Options!

Toyota has revealed the Rumion MPV ahead of the festive season in India. This upcoming Toyota Rumion MPV is actually a rebadged version of the highly-successful Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV.

This makes the upcoming Toyota Rumion, the fourth badge-engineered Toyota product in India. On top of that, the upcoming Toyota Rumion will be the automaker's most affordable MPV in the country.

Toyota Rumion Profile

Analysing the images of the Toyota Rumion, the MPV sports a new front bumper and grille. Along with this, the model also comes with new dual-tone alloy wheels and we expect the new rear bumper as well.

The interior of the upcoming Toyota Rumion MPV also comes with some minor changes compared to the interior of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. For starters, the Toyota Rumoin features a blacked-out dashboard and features wood-like inserts. However, the upholstery is similar to that of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.

Toyota Rumion Safety

In terms of features, we expect the upcoming Toyota Rumion MPV to feature a similar set of equipment as the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV. However, it is safe to expect a few changes in the equipment list across the variants on offer.

In terms of powertrain, the upcoming Toyota Rumion MPV will feature three powertrain options, and all of these powertrains will be a direct lift from the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV.

Toyota Rumion Infotainment

The 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine in the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is tuned to produce 101.6bhp and 136.8Nm of torque. Also, this engine can be specified to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Apart from these two powertrain options, Toyota will also launch the CNG variant of the Rumion MPV. This variant uses a modified version of this engine. In CNG mode, this engine puts out 88bhp and 121.5Nm of torque. Also, this engine comes exclusively with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Thoughts About The Upcoming Toyota Rumion MPV

While the Toyota Rumion could be a new MPV in India, the model has been in production for quite some time now and has been exported to countries such as South Africa.

Also, the introduction of the Toyota Rumion ahead of the festive season will help the Japanese automaker significantly boost its overall sales in India. Also, we expect the base variant of the Rumion to be slightly more expensive than the base variant of the Ertiga MPV.
