Toyota Land Cruiser Se Concept Unveiled Ahead Of Tokyo Motor Show Debut - Icon Goes Electric
Japanese carmaker Toyota has unveiled a new concept vehicle as it looks to bring its off-roading icon Land Cruiser into the electric era.
The Toyota Land Cruiser Se will make its public debut at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show (now the Japan Mobility Show), highlighting the marque's commitment to embracing battery electric vehicle technology in its iconic off-roader line.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Se is a seven-seat 4x4 concept vehicle that offers the high-torque driving performance characteristic of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs).
While no further details about the battery or powertrain have been disclosed, Toyota has confirmed that the Se will be a significant addition to the Land Cruiser brand when it arrives in production guise. With its three-row seating arrangement, the Se is designed to cater to diverse needs.

The Se boasts an elegant and stylish design, making it sleeker than the current Land Cruiser model. Measuring 5,150mm in length, 1,990mm in width, and 1,705mm in height, the Se is longer and wider but stands slightly lower than the recently revealed Land Cruiser which is due in 2024.
Standout features of the Se include its sleek lighting setup (at both the front and rear), long silhouette, sloping roofline, and blacked-out C-pillar. The Toyota Land Cruiser Se concept rides on snazzy alloy wheels draped with road-biased tyres.

Toyota assures that the monocoque frame of the Land Cruiser Se concept will provide highly responsive handling and instil confidence when tackling rough terrain. This aligns with Toyota's vision of maintaining the Land Cruiser as a hardcore 4x4 model, even in the age of electric vehicles.
The quietness inherent in BEVs contributes to creating a comfortable cabin space for the Land Cruiser Se, especially when driving in urban areas and other on-road situations. Although no interior images have been released yet, the focus on quietness suggests a significant improvement in cabin comfort.

The Land Cruiser Se is part of a broader showcase from Toyota at the 2023 Tokyo show, which also includes a mid-size electric pickup truck (EPU) and the FT-Se sports car and FT-3e SUV concepts.
Thoughts About The Toyota Land Cruiser Se

The new Land Cruiser Se is a significant step forward in Toyota's journey towards electrification. With its unique blend of high-torque performance, elegant design, and enhanced usability, the Se promises to broaden the appeal of the Land Cruiser brand in the electric future that awaits us all.
