Toyota Innova Crysta Diesel Vs Toyota Innova Hycross – Price, Powertrain, Size & More
Toyota recently revealed the prices of a few variants of the 2023 Innova Crysta diesel in India. As such, here's a quick comparison of the new Toyota Innova Crysta with the Toyota Innova Hycross.
Design: Toyota Innova Hycross does not look anything like the Innova Crysta with its flatter-looking nose section, slightly longer bonnet, fared and squared-off wheel arches, and all-around back cladding. This makes the Innova Hycross look a bit more rugged as well.
In comparison, the 2023 Toyota Innova Crysta looks very plain. However, design elements such as LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, ORVM-mounted turn indicators and some chrome elements help the MPV look a bit premium.
Size: In terms of size, the Toyota Innova Crysta can be easily considered as a large MPV with exterior dimensions measuring 4,735mm long, 1,850mm wide, and 1,795mm tall. In addition to that, the Innova Crysta also comes with a generous wheelbase of 2,750mm.
In comparison, the new Toyota Innova Hycross is 20mm longer, 20mm wider, and also sports a mammoth 100mm extra space between its front and rear wheels - Dwarfing the Innova Crysta in terms of dimensions. Furthermore, the monocoque construction allows for even better packaging on the inside.
Powertrain: The Toyota Innova Crysta now comes exclusively with a BS6 Phase 2 compliant, 2.4-litre, turbocharged diesel engine and this engine comes exclusively mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. We expect power and torque figures to be the same as the previous model at 145bhp and 343Nm, respectively.
In contrast, the Toyota Innova Hycross is offered in two engine options. The base 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated, petrol engine produces 172bhp of peak power and 205Nm of peak torque. Also, this powertrain comes mated to a CVT gearbox.
On the other hand, the hybrid unit uses a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated, Atkinson cycle petrol engine and an electric motor. In combined form, this powertrain produces 184.8bhp of peak power and 206Nm of peak torque. Unlike the petrol-only version, this version uses a more advanced eCVT gearbox.
Price: At present, the 'GX' variant of the Toyota Innova Crysta has been priced at Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Moreover, leaked data reveals that the base 'G' variant of the MPV is priced at Rs 19.13 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
On the other hand, prices for the non-hybrid variant of the Innova Hycross starts from Rs 18.55 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and prices for the Hybrid variant of the MPV range between Rs 24.76 lakh (ex-showroom, India) to Rs 28.81 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
