Toyota Hilux GR Sport II Revealed: The Sporty Hilux
Toyota has introduced the new Hilux GR Sport II. The new version of the Hilux pickup truck is the latest addition to Toyota's sporty Gazoo Racing (GR) lineup
The Hilux GR Sport II builds on the Toyota Gazoo Racing Hilux's legacy at the Dakar Rally, which the racing arm of the Japanese firm has won multiple times. The Toyota Hilux GR Sport II will start arriving in showrooms in the second half of 2024.

The new Hilux GR Sport II pickup truck joins other Toyota vehicles sold under the marque's performance-focused GR brand which includes the likes of the GR Yaris, GR Corolla and the Supra sports car.
The new GR Sport II will only be available in a double-cab body style. The front bumper has been reshaped, and the truck features a retro 'Toyota' script across the bespoke black mesh grille, GR Sport badging, and a silver underguard. Other features include lightweight 17-inch alloy wheels, and black detailing on the side steps, mirrors, and door handles.

Inside, the GR Sport II presents a more subdued colour scheme compared to its predecessor. The red trim piece from the previous model's dash has been replaced with silver stitching on the seats, armrests, and handbrake.
However, the interior does retain the red seat belts, GR-branded seats, and aluminium pedals. The dash now sports a new eight-inch touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and offers on-board navigation as well.

Under the big bonnet of the Hilux GR Sport II is the same 2.8-liter diesel engine from its predecessor which delivers 201bhp and 500Nm of torque. The power is sent to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
Toyota has widened the front and rear tracks by 140mm and 150mm respectively and the firm has also raised the ride height by 20mm.

Toyota claims that the new air curtain structure, which includes a brand-new bumper with a functional fog lamp bezel helps optimise drag efficiency and reduce turbulence in the wheel arch.
The Japanese carmaker has also fitted the Hilux GR Sport II pickup truck with disc brakes all around. The front brakes are 432mm units while the rear sports 381mm rotors instead of the previous version's drums.

The new GR Sport II offers better stability and handling than its predecessor thanks to new dampers that sport a bigger monotube piston. The new lighter wheels come wrapped in all-terrain tyres that help enhance grip and overall stability.
