Toyota FT-Se Concept Teased Ahead Of Tokyo Motor Show Debut: The Next MR2 Or Celica?
Toyota is set to make waves in the electric vehicle market with its newest concept, the FT-Se. The innovative electric sports car, which is set to be revealed at the forthcoming Tokyo Motor Show, suggests that Toyota is preparing to launch a zero-emissions successor to its iconic MR2 and Celica sports cars.
This isn't the first time that Toyota has teased an all-electric sports car given that an intriguing unnamed electric sports car was among the 11 EV concepts Toyota introduced last year. The teaser images hint that the FT-Se concept will be an evolved version of that concept's design.

The Toyota FT-Se sports a compact bonnet, prominent rear haunches, and sharp body lines along with a tapered rear windscreen and small ducktail spoiler, reminiscent of those found on the current Supra. The sleek tail lights arcing up to the rear spoiler are perhaps the coolest aspect of the concept car currently known to us.
The interior of the FT-Se presents a futuristic design that Toyota claims provides "intuitive controls and a more immersive driving experience". Highlights include a yoke-style steering flanked by two petite smartphone-style displays on either side. The actual driver's display sits deep into the dashboard, providing excellent visibility of the road ahead.

The specifics of the EV powertrain that powers the FT-Se is not yet disclosed but expect details to arrive when the electric sports car debuts at the Toyko Motor Show later this month.
While not expected to show up in the concept, the production-spec car could feature Toyota's next-gen battery technology, announced in September. Toyota is currently working on new types of batteries that could deliver a range of up to 1,000km on a single charge.
Thoughts About The Toyota FT-Se Concept
The FT-Se represents Toyota's commitment to creating zero-emissions vehicles and shows us what many expect to be the all-electric successor to either the MR2 or the Celica sports cars.
Stay tuned to get more details about the Toyota FT-Se concept when it debuts at the Tokyo Motor Show which kicks off on the 26th of October. The FT-Se will be one of many concepts that Toyota will be unveiling at the event.
