Top-10 Best-Selling Cars In India For May 2023: Maruti Suzuki Baleno Tops The Sales Chart

Securing the second spot was the Maruti Suzuki Swift, with 17,346 units sold last month. This represented a 23% growth compared to May 2022 when sales stood at 14,133 units.
The Maruti Suzuki WagonR dropped to third place this month, with total sales of 16,258 units in May 2023. This reflected a 3% decline compared to May 2022, which saw sales of 16,814 units.
The Hyundai Creta maintained its position as the best-selling mid-size SUV in India, with 14,449 units sold last month, showing a remarkable 32% growth compared to May 2022 when sales stood at 10,973 units.
The Tata Nexon claimed the fifth spot on the top-10 car sales chart for May, with 14,423 units sold. It also became the best-selling compact SUV, demonstrating consistent performance in the market, similar to its sales figure from the same month last year.
Finishing in sixth place, behind its segment rival, was the Maruti Vitara Brezza, with 13,398 units sold in May 2023. This represented a 30% increase compared to the sales figures from May 2022, which stood at 10,312 units.
The seventh and eighth spots were secured by two other Maruti Suzuki models-the Eeco MPV and the Dzire compact sedan. The Eeco registered 12,818 units sold, experiencing a year-on-year growth of 22%. Meanwhile, the Dzire sold 11,315 units in May 2023, which was a 2% decline compared to the numbers from May 2022.
Completing the top-10 best-selling cars for May 2023 were the Tata Punch in ninth position and the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in tenth place. The Tata Punch achieved an annual growth of 9%, with 11,124 units sold last month. However, the Ertiga experienced a decline in annual sales growth by 14%, as the MPV registered 10,528 units sold.

It comes as a surprise that the Baleno has claimed the top position, as the premium hatchback has witnessed a remarkable surge in sales figures. Maruti Suzuki, with its impressive lineup, has established dominance in the chart of best-selling cars, securing rankings for seven of its models. Meanwhile, Hyundai and Tata Motors are engaged in a close battle to secure the second spot as the leading brands in passenger car sales in India.
