2024 Renault Duster – Top 5 Things We Know So Far
The Renault Duster quickly gained popularity in India due to its rugged looks, compliant suspension, and frugal yet punchy powertrain. Also, the model can be credited for kick-starting the compact SUV segment in India.
Recently, Renault-owned Dacia brand unveiled the 2024 Duster SUV for the global market in Portugal. As such here are the top 5 things about the upcoming 2024 Renault Duster SUV.
2024 Renault Duster: Launch
According to Dacia, the third-gen Duster SUV will go on sale in Europe by the first half of 2024. After this, the new-gen Duster SUV will be sold to other markets outside of Europe, including India.
Speaking about the Indian market, Renault is said to bring the new Duster SUV to India by the second half of the year 2025. However, there is a possibility of the model arriving a little sooner than that.
2024 Renault Duster: Platform
The newly unveiled third-gen Renault Duster SUV is built on the automaker's highly versatile CMF-B platform. This platform has spawned numerous successful models sporting Renault, Dacia, and Nissan badges.
It is also worth mentioning that the new Duster is slightly longer than its predecessor at 4.34 metres long and the boot space stands at 472 litres. Also, the new 2024 Renault Duster will be offered with a 3-row seating layout.
However, it is worth mentioning that the 7-seater version of the Renault Duster will take some time before it hits the production line. We expect this version of the Duster to be at least a year away.
Despite the possibility of a 3-row version of the 2024 Renault Duster, the new model actually sports a shorter wheelbase at just 2,657mm. Thanks to this shorter wheelbase, we expect the new Duster SUV to be a bit more nimble and have better off-road capability than its predecessor.
2024 Renault Duster: Design
The 2024 Renault Duster sports an evolutionary design language. Moreover, the model looks very butch and rugged with the inclusion of design elements such as large squared-off wheel arches, vertical air vents, simple round fog lamps, roof rails, and spoiler.
Other interesting design elements on the upcoming 2024 Renault Duster SUV include Y-shaped LED DRLs inside headlamps that connect with the front grille, Y-shaped taillights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and tapered rear quarter glass.
2024 Renault Duster: Features
On the Inside, the new Duster SUV gets a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a new multi-function 3-spoke steering wheel, wireless charging pad, automatic climate control, 6-speaker Arkamys 3D audio system and ADAS tech.
2024 Renault Duster: Powertrain
The new-gen Renault Duster is said to be offered with at least 3 engine options. Out of these three engine options, two engine options come with electrification. Moreover, the 1.6-litre engine gets not one but two electric motors as well.
This 1.6-litre engine also uses a 1.2kWh battery pack and comes exclusively with an automatic gearbox. Thanks to this battery pack and the pair of electric motors, the Duster SUV with this powertrain can commute in full EV mode.
The next engine option is a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine with 128bhp. This engine also comes with electrification but in the form of a 48V starter motor. The last option is a 1.0-litre, petrol-LPG powertrain, which will be available in certain markets such as Poland.
It is also worth mentioning that the new Renault Duster SUV will be available in both 4X2 and 4X4 guise. Furthermore, it will also sport multiple terrain modes for better off-roadability.
Thoughts About The 2024 Renault Duster
The Renault Duster SUV has already tasted success in India, however, the downfall of the model boils down to lack of updates and not responding to newer rivals. This eventually led to Renault Duster feeling very outdated and eventually losing its market share.
That being said, if Renault delays the launch of the new Duster SUV in India, the French automaker will be repeating its mistake. As the new Duster will become outdated by the time it reaches Indian shores.
