Top 5 Compact SUVs Sold In India – June 2023
The compact SUV segment is one of the most competitive categories in the Indian passenger car segment. This makes it a tough category to break into for newer models. However, the compact SUV category has shown a 27.3 per cent YoY growth.
In terms of numbers, the current compact SUV market size stands at 35,805 units. That being said, here is the list of the top 5 contributors of the compact SUV segment in India for the month of June 2023.
Hyundai Creta (14,447 Units)
Despite new launches in its segment, the Hyundai Creta SUV remains a popular choice. In June 2023, Hyundai managed to sell 14,447 units of Creta SUVs and witnessed a 4.8 per cent YoY sales growth.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara (10,486 Units)
Despite being a new SUV in the Indian automobile market, Maruti Suzuki managed to sell 10,486 units of Grand Vitara SUV in June 2023. Thanks to this strong performance, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara managed to overtake Kia Seltos for the second spot on this list.
Kia Seltos (3,578 Units)
With the imminent launch of the facelifted version of the Kia Seltos, YoY sales figures for the outgoing model fell by more than 57 per cent. In fact, Kia managed to sell just 3,578 units of the Seltos SUV in June 2023.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder (2,821 Units)
Though the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUVs are basically the same SUVs, Toyota couldn't manage the sales figure achieved by the Grand Vitara. In fact, Toyota could only manage to sell 2,821 units of the Hyryder SUV in June 2023.
Skoda Kushaq (2,133 Units)
The Skoda Kushaq SUV has been a game-changer for the Czech automaker in India. However, the model could not keep up its momentum. In June 2023, the company managed to sell just 2,133 units of the SUV, which resulted in a 28 per cent decline in YoY sales.
Thoughts About Compact SUVs In India
The total compact SUV sales stand at 35,805 units in June 2023, resulting in YoY and MoM increase of 27.3 per cent and 4.6 per cent, respectively. However, the majority of these figures are contributed by Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUVs.
