Top 10 Bestselling Carmakers In India (July 2023) - On The Rise
July 2023 saw carmakers ship out a total of 351,908 passenger vehicles. Sales were in the black for both Year-over-Year (Y-o-Y) and Month-over-Month (M-o-M) metrics.
Overall, Y-o-Y sales rose by 3.19 per cent or 10,887 units compared to the 341,021 units sold by the 14 carmakers listed here in July 2022. M-o-M sales were up even more rising by nearly seven per cent or 22,999 units compared to the 328,909 units sold in June 2023.

Let's take a look at the top 10 bestselling carmakers from July 2023...
1) Maruti Suzuki: 152,126 Units
India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki continued its domination of the sales charts and launched the Toyota Innova-based Invicto MPV last month in the domestic market.
Y-o-Y sales rose by 6.49 per cent (9,276 units) compared to the 142,850 units sold in July 2022. M-o-M sales were also in the black, rising by 14.36 per cent (19,099 units) compared to the 133,027 vehicles sold in June 2023.

2) Hyundai: 50,701 Units
South Korean firm Hyundai launched the Exter micro SUV in India last month. Y-o-Y sales rose marginally, going up by 201 units (0.4 per cent) compared to the 50,500 units sold in July 2022. M-o-M numbers rose by 700 units (1.4 per cent) compared to the 50,001 units sold in June.
3) Tata Motors: 47,630 Units
Tata Motors closed off the podium selling 47,630 passenger vehicles in July 2023. Y-o-Y sales were up by 124 units (0.26 per cent) compared to July 2022's 47,506 cars. M-o-M numbers also rose, up by 395 units (0.84 per cent) compared to June's 47,235 units.

4) Mahindra: 36,205 Units
Mahindra enjoyed a brilliant month of sales in July 2023. Y-o-Y sales rose by 30.37 per cent or 8,434 units compared to the 27,771 units sold in July 2022. M-o-M sales were also up by 11.1 per cent or 3,617 units compared to the 32,588 units sold in June 2023.
5) Toyota: 20,759 Units
Toyota returned to the top 5 on the sales charts, rising by 5.41 per cent or 1,066 units compared to the 19,693 units sold in July 2022. M-o-M sales were up by 5.87 per cent or 1,151 units compared to the 19,608 units sold in June 2023.

6) Kia: 20,002 Units
South Korean firm Kia launched the facelifted Seltos in india last month. Kia's Y-o-Y sales dropped by 2,020 units (9.17 per cent) compared to the 22,022 units sold in July last year. M-o-M sales though were up by 3.15 per cent (611 units) compared to the 19,391 units sold in June 2023.
7) MG: 5,012 Units
British carmaker MG sold 5,012 new cars last month. Y-o-Y sales were up by 24.89 per cent (999 units) compared to the 4,013 units sold in July 2022. M-o-M sales, on the other hand, dipped by 2.13 per cent (109 units) compared to June's 5,121 units.

8) Honda: 4,864 Units
Honda didn't have the best of months on the sales charts. Y-o-Y sales dropped 28.3 per cent (1,920 units) compared to the 6,784 units sold in the same period last year. M-o-M sales too were in the red, dropping by 4.25 per cent (216 units) compared to the 5,080 units sold in June.
9) Skoda: 4,207 Units
Czech carmaker Skoda saw its Y-o-Y sales drop by 5.4 per cent (240 units) compared to July 2022's 4,447 units. M-o-M sales though rose by just over six per cent (241 units) compared to June's 3,966 units.

10) Volkswagen: 3,814 Units
Volkswagen enjoyed a fruitful month of sales in July. Y-o-Y sales grew by 30.84 per cent (899 units) compared to the 2,915 units sold in July 2022. M-o-M sales also rose by 12.37 per cent (420 units) compared to the 3,394 units sold in June.

Most carmakers continued to see sales grow ahead of the fast-approaching festive season. Carmakers are continuing to launch new cars or update already existing vehicles as the demand for new vehicles keeps on growing.
