Tata Punch EV Spotted Testing: A Game-Changer in Indias EV Market?
India's leading automaker, Tata Motors, is set to amaze the domestic market with another electric vehicle. In the pipeline is the anticipated launch of the Punch EV, the company's fourth electric car model. Currently, Tata Motors has been actively testing the Punch EV, a model based on their smallest SUV, on various Indian roads.
The most recent spotting of the Punch EV sported a near production form, shrouded in camouflage. Tata Motors has hinted that this new model could make its official appearance before the year concludes, thereby adding to their existing EV lineup that includes the electric avatars of Nexon, Tigor, and Tiago. The Punch EV will be entering the market with rivals such as Citroen eC3.

The Punch EV has been the subject of spy videos, offering viewers a chance to peek at some of the model's features. For instance, the trial version almost reveals the design of its headlamp. It seems that the upcoming model will sport a similar LED headlight setup as seen in the Nexon EV's facelift version.
The model is also anticipated to feature a Nexon-like connected DRL at the front. The alloy wheels come with a distinct five-spoke design. The taillight design, too, is expected to be tweaked and is predicted to mirror the ones on the Nexon EV.

The Punch EV is expected to sport an updated interior, based on earlier spy shots. It could potentially feature a new two-spoke steering wheel with a digital logo, a feature first introduced in the Nexon and Nexon EV facelift SUVs.
The touchscreen infotainment system could either be a 7-inch unit or a new 10.25-inch unit. The Punch EV is also set to offer a rotary-style gear shifter and a redesigned instrument cluster to display EV-related information. In addition, the possibility of an electronic parking brake is also on the cards.

As for other features, the Punch EV could come with automatic climate control, a wireless charger, and a sunroof. Safety features are expected to include six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
DriveSpark Thinks
Just like the Nexon EV, Tata Motors plans to offer the Punch EV in both mid-range and long-range versions. The battery size could likely be the same as the ones used for Tigor EV or the Nexon EV. The Punch EV could potentially provide a range of over 300 kms on a single charge in its long-range version.
In conclusion, Tata Motors is pulling all stops to continue its winning streak in the Indian electric vehicle market with the launch of the Tata Punch EV. With a promise of exceptional features and superior performance, the Punch EV is poised to make a compelling case for the adoption of electric vehicles in India.
