Tata Punch CNG To Be Launched Today – Everything We Know So Far

Tata Motors is all geared up to launch the Tata Punch CNG SUV today in India. This long-awaited CNG variant of the Tata Punch will feature the company's twin-cylinder CNG technology and the model is also expected to feature an electric sunroof as an option.

Speaking about the upcoming Tata Punch CNG, the SUV was showcased alongside the Tata Altroz CNG at the Auto Expo 2023. It is also worth mentioning that the Tata Punch CNG attracted plenty of attention at the Auto Expo 2023, thanks to its twin-cylinder technology.

Tata Punch CNG Side

Like the Tata Altroz CNG, we expect the new Tata Punch CNG SUV to be powered by the same 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated engine with 72.5bhp and 103Nm of torque (CNG mode). However, in petrol mode, this engine is tuned to produce a healthier 84.48bhp and 113Nm of torque.

Unlike the standard petrol variant, the upcoming Tata Punch CNG SUV will not be offered with a 5-speed AMT unit. Instead, the Punch CNG is expected to come exclusively with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Tata Punch CNG Boot

In terms of features, the upcoming Tata Punch CNG SUV is expected feature an electric sunroof. This option is likely to be offered from the mid-spec trim levels onwards. Also, these new sunroof-equipped trim levels are also likely to be offered in the petrol variants ahead of the festive season.

While the standard Tata Punch SUV sports a large 366-litre boot, we expect the upcoming CNG version of the Punch SUV to sport a 231-litre boot. Though 135 litres smaller, we expect it to be more practical compared to other CNG cars in the country.

Tata Punch CNG

Speaking about the twin-cylinder technology, Tata Motors have cleverly installed two smaller CNG tanks measuring 30 litres each instead of one big tank. This setup has liberated more usable space in the boot. Also, the spare tyre of the upcoming Punch CNG is likely to be mounted under the car.

Thoughts About The Tata Punch CNG SUV

With the launch of the Tata Punch CNG, Tata Motors will be further expanding its CNG product lineup. This expanded CNG product lineup is expected to boost the overall sales figures for the automaker, especially in tier 1 and tier 2 cities.
