Tata Nexon Facelift Vs Kia Sonet – Fuel Efficiency Comparison
The newly launched Tata Nexon facelift SUV more than surpassed the automaker's expectations and the model now commands a long waiting period. That being said, the Kia Sonet is among the Tata Nexon's closest competitors and here's a quick fuel efficiency comparison between both the sub-4m SUVs.
Starting with the powertrain, the new Tata Nexon facelift SUV comes with two engine options. A 1.2-litre, turbocharged, petrol engine with 118bhp and 170Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre, turbocharged diesel engine with 113bhp and 260Nm of torque.

Also, both these engine options come with multiple transmission options. In fact, the petrol model can be specified with transmissions such as a 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT, and a 7-speed DCT.
On the other hand, the Kia Sonet SUV comes with three engine options. The base 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine puts out 81.8bhp and 115Nm of torque. Also, this engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard.

On the other hand, the more powerful 1.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine produces 118.4bhp and 172Nm of torque. Moreover, customers can choose either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
Finally, the diesel version of the 2023 Kia Sonet uses a 1.5-litre, turbocharged diesel engine with 115bhp and 250Nm of torque. Moreover, the model can be specified with either a 6-speed iMT unit or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Tata Nexon Facelift Mileage
According to Tata Motors, the Tata Nexon facelift SUV with the 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol engine with the manual transmission delivers a fuel efficiency of 17.44km/l. On the other hand, the 6-speed AMT variant is slightly less efficient at 17.18km/l.
However, despite sporting 7 forward ratios, the newly launched 7-speed DCT gearbox variant is the least fuel efficient. This powertrain setup delivers a fuel efficiency figure of just 17.01km/l.

Coming to the diesel powertrain, the Nexon variant with a 1.5-litre, turbocharged diesel engine and 6-speed manual transmission delivers a fuel efficiency figure of 23.23km/l. Whereas, the automatic variant with the 6-speed AMT gearbox delivers a fuel efficiency of 24.08km/l.
Kia Sonet Mileage
The Kia Sonet SUV with the 1.2-litre engine and 5-speed manual transmission delivers a fuel efficiency of 18.4km/l, whereas the turbo petrol variant with the iMT transmission delivers a fuel efficiency figure of 18.2km/l.
Surprisingly, the 7-speed DCT gearbox in the Kia Sonet SUV is more fuel-efficient than the variant equipped with the 6-speed iMT gearbox. According to Kia India, the DCT variant delivers a fuel efficiency of 18.3km/l.

Unsurprisingly, the diesel variants are very fuel efficient. The model with the 6-speed iMT unit delivers a fuel efficiency of 24.1km/l, whereas the 6-speed torque convertor delivers a mileage of 19km/l.
