India’s First Turbocharged CNG SUV – Tata Nexon i-CNG Could Be Launched In The Near Future
Tata Motors recently launched the facelifted version of the Tata Nexon SUV in India and the model so far as received tremendous response in the Indian automobile market. Additionally, Tata Motors had also launched the Tata Nexon EV facelift as well.
That being said, Tata Motors seems to be planning to dominate the sub-4m SUV segment with the launch CNG version of the newly launched Tata Nexon facelift SUV. Also, this upcoming model could be named Tata Nexon i-CNG.

Recently, a CNG icon popped up on the digital instrument cluster of the facelifted version of the Tata Nexon EV. Though this is just a software glitch, it hints that the Tata Nexon CNG model could be in the pipeline.
Since the Tata Nexon facelift SUV comes with a 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol engine, we expect the CNG version of the model could also sport the same powertrain. As such, the upcoming Tata Nexon i-CNG could be India's first turbocharged CNG SUV.
That being said, we are not sure if Tata Motors will introduce an automatic gearbox with the Tata Nexon i-CNG SUV. Such a move would make the Tata Nexon the first CNG vehicle in India to sport an automatic gearbox.
Speaking about the Tata Nexon facelift, the SUV comes with a heavily updated exterior consisting of a futuristic split headlamp layout, front and rear lightbars, and sharp lines. Moreover, the interior of the model also features a long list of changes and features.
Looking into details, the new Tata Nexon facelift SUV sports an all-new interior consisting of a new layered dashboard, a larger 10.25-inch infotainment unit, a new fully digital instrument cluster, a new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, a new upholstery, and much more.
Noticeable features on the Tata Nexon facelift SUV include a 360-degree surround-view camera, connected car tech, a wireless charger, ventilated front seats, an air purifier, rear AC vents, and much more.
Tata Nexon facelift SUV also sports many standardised safety techs such as 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), ABS, EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchoring points, parking sensors, emergency and breakdown call assistance, and more.
Coming to the powertrain, the Tata Nexon facelift comes with two engine options. The 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 120bhp and 170Nm of torque. Moreover, this powertrain can be specified to three transmission options - A 6-speed manual, a 6-speed AMT, and a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
On the other hand, the 1.5-litre, turbocharged diesel engine puts out 114bhp and 260Nm of peak torque. This powertrain can be specified with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT gearbox.
