Tata Motors Overtakes Hyundai To Become 2nd Largest Car Manufacturer In India – Sales Figures Out
Thanks to new launches and increased focus on safety, Tata Motors has witnessed tremendous growth in sales figures during recent years.
Apart from that, Tata Motors finished the year 2022 in complete style as the Indian car manufacturer overtook Hyundai to regain its position as India's 2nd largest car manufacturer in December 2022.
Diving into details, Tata Motors managed to sell 40,043 units of its passenger cars in December 2022, resulting in a YoY sales growth of 13.4 per cent. In comparison, Hyundai managed to sell just 38,831 units of its passenger cars during the same time frame.
However, it is worth mentioning that the MoM sales figures for the Tata Motors in December 2022 fell by 13 per cent as the Indian car manufacturer managed to sell 46,037 units of its passenger cars in the previous month. However, that stronger sales performance in the month of November could be credited to the sales push from the festive season.
Looking at overall sales figures, Tata Motors managed to sell a total of 5,26,819 units of its passenger cars in the year 2022. Moreover, the Indian car manufacturer witnessed a 59 per cent increase in YoY sales growth as the company managed to sell just 3,31,181 units of its cars in the year 2021.
Dividing the year 2022 into quarters, the third quarter witnessed the strongest performance for Tata Motors as the company managed to sell 1,42,331 units of its cars in July, August, and September months. However, the highest YoY sales growth was witnessed in the second quarter at 102 per cent, where the company managed to sell 1,30,130 units of its cars.
Thoughts About Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle Sales
In recent years, Tata Motors has been in a close fight with Hyundai for the second spot, and with a YoY sales increase of more than 59 per cent, we expect Tata Motors to soon become the 2nd largest passenger car maker in India if the company managed to keep up the strong sales momentum.
