Skoda, Volkswagen Car Sales Breakup – June 2023

The launch of the newer MQB-A0 platform-based cars has been a game changer for both Volkswagen and Skoda in India. However, both Volkswagen and Skoda have failed to keep up the momentum and sales figures have been dwindling in recent months.

Looking into numbers, YoY sales figures are down for a majority of Skoda and Volkswagen models. That being said, here is the sales break up for models under Volkswagen and Skoda in India for the month of June 2023.

Skoda Kushaq (2,133 Units)

The Skoda Kushaq continues to display its strong sales performance as the automaker managed to sell 2,133 units of the SUV in June 2023. Despite churning decent sales figures, YoY sales numbers have reduced by as much as 28.5 per cent.

Volkswagen Virtus (1,812 Units)

Though SUVs have more demand in the automobile market, the Virtus sedan managed to outsell Taigun SUV in June 2023. In fact, Volkswagen managed to sell 1,812 units of the Virtus sedans but YoY sales figures are down by 2 per cent.

Skoda Slavia (1,639 Units)

In June 2023, Skoda managed to sell 1,639 units of Slavia sedans in India. Though a very respectable figure for the sedan of its segment, YoY sales figures have come down by more than 40 per cent.

Volkswagen Taigun (1,449 Units)

Though Volkswagen managed to sell just 1,449 units of the Taigun SUVs in the month of June 2023, it is the only model built on the MQB-A0 platform to show positive YoY sales growth. In fact, Volkswagen witnessed an YoY sales growth of more than 9 per cent.

Skoda Kodiaq (194 Units)

The Skoda Kodiaq witnessed an YoY sales growth of more than 145 per cent for the month of June 2023. However, sales figures stand at a mere 194 units for the same month.

Volkswagen Tiguan (133 Units)

Unlike the Skoda Kodiaq, YoY sales figures for the Volkswagen Tiguan SUV dipped by more than 22 per cent as the company managed to sell just 133 units of the SUV in June 2023. In comparison, the company managed to sell 171 units of the SUV in June 2022.

Thoughts About Volkswagen & Skoda Sales In June 2023

Though Skoda has managed to outsell Volkswagen in the month of June 2023, a closer look reveals that the sales figures of the Czech automaker have come down. In comparison, Volkswagen has managed to improve its overall sales figures.
