Rolls-Royce Droptail La Rose Noire Unveiled: First Of Four Coachbuild Specials Is A Celebration of Love

Rolls-Royce, the British luxury motoring firm, has revealed the first of four exclusive Droptail roadsters dubbed the La Rose Noire. The Rolls-Royce Droptail La Rose Noire roadster is the latest creation of the firm's Coachbuild program.

The design of the La Rose Noire Droptail is inspired by the Black Baccara rose bred by French rose hybridizer, Jacques Mouchotte in the late 90s. Rolls-Royce claims that the styling of the first of four Droptail models incorporates the most complex expression of parquetry ever seen in Rolls-Royce history.

The exterior is lovingly finished in a shade of red paint dubbed True Love, a hue that required 150 iterations to perfect and appears to change colour depending on the viewing angle.

The dark Hydroshade finish used for the bright work enhances the bespoke dual-tone look of the custom La Rose Noire. Dubbed Hydroshade for its 'liquid quality', this shade was developed specifically for this Coachbuild project. The pieces with this dark finish get the colour deposited onto them during the chrome plating process in a layer of just one-micron thickness.

The La Rose Noire sports a removable hardtop roof that gives it two distinct personalities. With the roof on, it is a formidable and dramatic coupé, but once the top comes off this bespoke Droptail become a beautiful drop-top roadster.

The roof sports an electrochromic glass section, which instantly transitions to a near-translucent shade at the touch of a button allowing the occupants of the two-seater shapeshifter to view the blue sky above on the move.

Step inside the La Rose Noire, and you'll be enveloped in a world of opulence. The interior showcases an abstract expression of falling rose petals, formed by 1,603 pieces of Black Sycamore veneer triangles. The seats are draped in dark red 'Mystery' and light red 'True Love' leather, mirroring the texture of Black Baccara rose petals that inspired this bespoke animal.

Capping off the design is the one-off timepiece by Audemars Piguet that is integrated into the fascia of the La Rose Noire. This timepiece can be removed and worn on a strap, reminding the owners of their bespoke masterpiece.

The La Rose Noire sports a bespoke Rolls-Royce Champagne Chest that holds an exclusive vintage of Champagne de Lossy commissioned to celebrate this remarkable car by its owners.

The champagne chest opens at the press of a button, revealing a champagne set with hand-blown crystal flutes. The exterior lid of the Champagne Chest doubles as a serving tray made of Black Sycamore wood, and the sides feature intricate parquetry work that matches the Droptail La Rose Noire's design.
