UKs Helixx Unveils Futuristic Electric Delivery Van: A Game Changer?
Helixx, a UK-based technology company, recently unveiled its first demonstration vehicle, offering potential clients a preview of the forward-thinking technology they aspire to offer in the not-so-distant future. In a stroke of ingenuity, the focus is as much on the manufacturing system as it is on the vehicle itself.
Helixx has a team of experts who carefully designed a commercial delivery van (a name that underscores its function at first glance) to sport immense versatility. Not just limited to this, it's anticipated that when the van launches into production in 2024, we will also see variants of a pickup truck and multiple body-style passenger vehicles.

The primary target for these vehicles isn't the average consumers. On the contrary, Helixx is focusing on fleet operators, the construction industry, and ride-hailing services. With a body structure that houses just five components, which can be clicked and bonded together with relative ease, a production process that seemed challenging and complex is now simplified and swift. In addition, developers at Helixx claim that this innovation leads to vehicles with extended durability.
Another intriguing aspect of these vehicles lies in their expedited assembly timeline and their portable production. Helixx has skillfully designed the bodies of these cars to support white-label designs and localized branding.
In essence, automotive manufacturers such as Ford could potentially license Helixx's Mobility Hub to set up a plant anywhere on the globe and provide affordable EV transport to the masses at heavily slashed prices. Thanks to the design's white-label capability, customizations can be integrated, thereby offering clients a uniquely branded model.

Helixx CEO and co-founder Steve Pegg, said, "We deprogrammed our mindset away from conventional design principles to challenge the complexities of legacy manufacturing systems. The vehicle visually represents what licensed Helixx Mobility Hubs can produce in as little as 180 days from the initial site survey to vehicles rolling out onto the street, offering subscribers access from $0.25 per hour."
This represents a significant milestone in the automotive industry. Not to forget, the new manufacturing system is reported to cut production costs by half, thus providing an affordable option for a wider audience.

The key to this affordability lies in moving away from the current sheet metal process, decreasing manufacturing complexities by a massive 50%. Helixx first 3D printed all the body components then scanned them to be reproduced into a large-scale internally recyclable polymer molding body system. The final product? A lighter body that weighs 30% less and incorporates hundreds of fewer components.

In conclusion, Helixx is paving the way for developing nations to join in the zero emissions movement. This innovation aptly addresses one of the major drawbacks of electrification - high costs. Helixx's concept car, along with its groundbreaking manufacturing system, promises to offer a cheaper, lighter, and more durable vehicle that may revolutionize the automotive industry.
