Nissan Hyper Tourer Concept Unveiled Ahead Of Tokyo Motor Show Debut: The MPV Of The Future?
Japanese carmaker Nissan has unveiled the Hyper Tourer concept, an innovative all-electric minivan that looks to redefine shared journeys.
The Hyper Tourer is the third concept revealed by Nissan that will make its debut at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show which kicks off on the 26th of October.
Nissan claims that the Hyper Tourer Concept has been designed for those who appreciate luxury and enjoy the company of friends and associates. The firm states that the Hyper Tourer focuses on nurturing and reinforcing the bond between people as they travel together.
The concept combines the essence of omotenashi (Japanese hospitality) with advanced technologies, such as autonomous driving and Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) functionality.
The V2X function allows the Hyper Tourer concept to supply electricity to other EVs, homes, stores, and offices during travel and various business occasions.
In terms of design, the exterior features smooth body panels, sharp character lines, and a white waistline that serves as a headlight and signature lamp. Nissan claims that the Kumiko-patterned wheels and the soft, straight body lines create a premium feel beyond the concept's class.
The interior of the Nissan Hyper Tourer concept is spacious which is made possible by compact components and high-energy density all-solid-state batteries, resulting in an ultra-low centre of gravity.
The fully autonomous driving feature enables face-to-face discussions between front- and rear-seat passengers. The front seats can swivel 360 degrees while the passengers at the rear can use a wearable display to view and operate the navigation and audio on the infotainment display.
An AI system monitors the biometric signs in the cabin of the Nissan Hyper Tourer concept to select complementary music and adjust the lighting to fit the mood inside.
Details about the Nissan Hyper Tourer's all-electric powertrain are currently not available. However, we do expect Nissan to reveal more news about the said powertrain at the Tokyo Motor Show when the concept makes its public debut.
