Nissan Confirms New 7-Seater MPV For India – Likely To Sport 1.0L Engine
Nissan has confirmed that they will be launching a new car in India to further boost their sales figures. According to Nissan, this upcoming car will be a sub-4m 7-seater MPV.
Diving into details, this upcoming sub-4m 7-seater MPV from Nissan will be based on the existing Renault Triber platform, thanks to the existing partnership between Renault and Nissan.

This means, the upcoming Nissan sub-4m 7-seater MPV will be mechanically identical to the Renault Triber and will continue to use the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine. This engine in the Renault Triber puts out a respectable 71bhp of peak power and 96Nm of peak torque. Also, this engine can be specified to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a city-friendly 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) unit.

This is not the first time Renault and Nissan have shared platform / model in India. Previously, the Renault-Nissan partnership has given rise to models such as Duster and Terrano, Scala and Sunny, and Kiger and Magnite. It is also worth mentioning that both the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite SUVs have been immensely successful for both brands.
At present, Nissan has only 2 models in India - Magnite and Kicks. Out of these two models, the Nissan Kicks is likely to be phased out in the coming months due to the introduction of more stringent BS6 2 emission norms. This means Nissan India will only have one model in their product portfolio very soon.
Thoughts About Upcoming Nissan MPV
The introduction of the Renault Triber-based Nissan MPV will help the Japanese automaker continue its upward sales trajectory. Also, we expect this upcoming Nissan 7-seater MPV to sport its own unique design and design elements rather than a simple logo swap job. In fact, we expect some changes in sheet metal and dashboard design as well.
