The Nio ET9 Is An Electric Rival From The Future For The Porsche Panamera & Mercedes Maybach S-Class
Chinese electric car manufacturer Nio has revealed the ET9 coupe crossover. When it does arrive on the roads in 2025, the Nio ET9 will take on the likes of the Porsche Panamera, BMW 7 Series and the Mercedes Maybach S-Class.
The ET9, a coupe-crossover, will look to redefine standards in the luxury electric car segment in terms of efficiency, luxury, space, and safety and it signifies Nio's determination to carve out a niche in the high-end EV market.
The ET9 is a behemoth in size, measuring over 5300mm in length, 2016mm in width, and 1620mm in height. This makes it larger than any of Nio's previous models.
The massive proportions ensure those sitting in the four seats of the Nio ET9 have more than enough space to lounge around, especially at the rear. The rear seats provide 18-way electric adjustment along with a reclining feature, promising an unparalleled travelling experience for those lounging in them.
The Nio ET9 comes equipped with a new 900-volt electric architecture and a swappable 120kW lithium-ion battery. This combination assures superior power delivery and efficiency, making the ET9 a force to be reckoned with in the luxury EV segment.
The new 900V architecture and the firm's proprietary 1200v silicon carbide power module mean that the ET9 can support charging speeds of up to 600kW, nearly double that offered by rivals. This also means that the Nio ET9 can add 256km of range in just five minutes.
Furthermore, the vehicle's chassis operates entirely by wire, meaning the steering, suspension, brakes and throttle are all electrically operated, instead of the regular mechanical connections.
The ET9 also boasts of Nio;'s own NX9031 AD chipset. This powerful component enables concurrent processing for sensing, computing, planning, and control, thereby enhancing safety and driving assistance features.
Additionally, the ET9 has a fully active SkyRide suspension system, allowing individual wheel control and four-wheel steering. This ensures optimum ride quality and handling, further solidifying the ET9's position as a top contender in the luxury EV segment.
